  • Extended Episode - Belief Work

When was the last time you intentionally sat down and worked on your belief?

We know it’s important to work on our health, our habits, our breathing, etc. but we often overlook the need to work on our BELIEF. Today, I’m making the case that belief work is some of the absolute most important work you can do.

    Why?

Because our brains are hardwired for survival, and because of that, we won’t put time and energy toward things that we don’t believe will work out. So if we want to do big things in our life, we have to override our brain’s natural desire to avoid risk. The only way to do that is to work on our belief.

If we’re not intentional about this piece of the puzzle, doubts start to creep in and, over time, our hopes and dreams die.

Listen to this month’s extended episode of The MCA Podcast for more on why belief work is important, 4 ways to actively work on your belief, and one BONUS exercise you can do every day that will catapult you toward your big dreams.

    • 496 | The Biz Advice You Won't Hear

One of the best things we can do as mindset coaches is work on our OWN BELIEFS. Beliefs about the power and importance of mental training and beliefs about our own abilities to scale our business and be successful.

Belief work is especially important when you first start your business because you don't have a lot evidence that it's going to work.

Today I am breaking apart what I call "The Motivation Triad": A term that describes the 3 THINGS your brain is working on at any given moment.

        • 494 | Winning The Relationship with Sales Coach, Casey Jacox

This week, I got to sit down with Sales and Leadership Coach, Casey Jacox. With over 25 years of business experience, Casey has won in sales by prioritizing relationships over transactions. He is a father, husband, coach, podcaster, speaker, and business leader who prides himself on his curiosity, positivity, and authentic way of approaching all facets of his life.

Over the years, Casey has earned a glowing reputation across the board. After achieving record-breaking sales at his company 10 years in a row, Casey went on to write his debut book, “Win the RELATIONSHIP - Not the DEAL”. He’s now the founder of Winning The Relationship, LLC, a consulting firm that provides executive sales leadership and coaching, and he hosts the podcast, The Quarterback DadCast, which offers advice for fathers.

What makes this episode so powerful is that Casey is no stranger to adversity, and has continually bet on himself over and over again. Not only has Casey lived a lot of lives, he is a living, breathing example of turning stories of failure into stories of success. With a rich background in both sports and sales, Casey is relatable, sharp, and knows exactly what it takes to crush any big goal in front of you.

This episode is rich with entertaining sports stories, and lessons from failure, positive self-talk, tough-love pep talks, persistence, and the importance of relationships over everything.

            Here’s a glance at the episode…

[01:33] Casey starts off the episode by introducing himself. He chats about his kids as well as his background in sports and sales. He introduces his book, his podcast for dads, and his meaningful work as a sales coach.

[4:23] Self-belief can be hard to come by when you’re a teenager. Casey’s shares his high school to college football journey, and how he suffered a season-ending injury.

[9:18] Casey shares his dark inner thoughts in the aftermath of his injury, and how he found new purpose after asking his coach for advice. This journey ended up leading him to sales.

[12:13] Lindsey tells Casey about how she used to believe that not making the WNBA disqualified her from becoming a mindset coach. Now she knows that this “failure” actually qualifies her. Casey shares how he came to the same conclusion and quotes Tony Bennett, “Adversity is life’s golden ticket”

[16:06] When writing his book, Casey talks about how he had to work on his own self-talk and execute a “training plan”, similar to when he was an athlete.

[18:47] Casey never expected to become a coach. He tells Lindsey the story of a no-bullshit pep talk that changed everything. When pitching for his first coaching job, he told his employer, “Someone’s gotta bet on me”.

[22:38] Lindsey and Casey discuss the importance of self-belief before others believe in you. From journaling, to self-talk, to visualization, Casey and Lindsey chat about the very real psychological work that goes into maintaining your confidence.

[27:15] Casey brings up the importance of curiosity. He talks about his daily ice bath routine and how it reminds him that he can do hard things.

[29:30] These 5 “swear words” create anxiety, negative space, and overwhelm. The phrase, “I will”, puts you right back in the driver’s seat.

[32:06] What does a typical day look like for a high performance sales coach? Casey shares his daily routine which includes ice baths, coaching, “throwing boomerangs”, and showing up for his kids.

[34:18] Lindsey wraps up the episode by asking Casey a few rapid-fire questions. Casey talks about his love of reading, podcasts, and creating purpose and vision for his clients and his kids.

                • 491 | 6 Steps to Sell More Mindset Coaching

Today’s episode is all about “sales” - i.e. that little word that so many of us avoid.

Specifically, we’re going to be talking about how to sell mindset and mental performance coaching. But really, these principles can be applied to anything.

I used to hate sales, in fact, I would go out of my way to avoid it. Whether it was selling campfire mints or fundraising at school, I didn’t want any part of it. But when I started my business, I really had to get to the root of it and do some deep mindset work around my aversion to sales. It was the only way I was going to make my dreams happen.

                  Over time, everything changed.

And now, I’m super excited to share with you 6 tips that completely transformed my own mindset around selling.

If you’re here, you’re probably either a mindset coach already, or are considering becoming one. Regardless of where you’re coming from, I want to be very clear about one thing: Even if you don’t think selling is for you, it is.

Because learning to sell is less about money and more about learning (and owning) your worth. And when you do that, you force yourself to step up in a bigger, more impactful way. So whether or not there’s a money exchange, It’s still really important to go through this process and learn these skills.

One of my favorite things about building a mindset coaching business, is that you are your first client. Practicing what you preach is the key to moving forward. From building self-belief, to visualizing your success, when you directly apply mindset work to your business, you’ll see a direct impact on your own life and your ability to coach your clients.

We all have good days... and bad days. And sometimes our bad days catch us by surprise.

But starting the day on the wrong foot doesn't mean you have to end it that way. And the same goes for "high vibe" days. Those don't have to feel random and out of your control.

🌞 If you're operating at a high vibe, what can you do to keep that momentum going?

🌙 If you're a low vibe, what can you do to turn your day around?

In this Mental Monday, I'll coach you through it.
