Today we’re sharing a few important things you don’t see behind the scenes about brand collaborations. Brand partnerships are the main way we earn money as creators so we thought it would be helpful to hear what happens before you see that edited, sponsored post on your Instagram feed.

The first thing you don’t see behind the scenes is the back-and-forth communication that happens with brands. Since I’m (Emma) still self-represented, I manage the relationship and the collaboration from start to finish. 

For example, I can spend between 1-2 hours just learning the statement of work and negotiating the rate and deliverables with the brand. Sometimes it takes a full week of negotiation before contracts are even in place.

Secondly, you don’t see the content creation process. It takes so much time to shoot, select, and edit the content.
