Today, we’re going to talk about intrinsic vs. extrinsic motivation and 6 different motivation types. If you’re a content creator or influencer whose looking for more motivation in life, understanding how you’re motivated can help you.

INTRINSIC MOTIVATION:

According to American Psychology Association (APA), intrinsic motivations are linked to our feelings. It’s an incentive to engage or participate in an activity that derives from pleasure in the activity itself.  

·      You do things because it’s personally rewarding to you. You plan, pursue, and act on things because you see the benefits of your actions.

EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION:

According American Psychology Association (APA), you do things to either earn a reward or avoid a punishment. Your actions are driven by consequences. 

·      Example: Turning your homework in on time so you get a good grade and aren’t penalized for a late turn in.

The truth is we are all intrinsically and extrinsically motivated in the different aspects of our lives. Everyone is motivated differently and if you are trying to set goals and achieve them, it helps to know how to motivated yourself.
