  • All about having fun - With Joy Stafford #119
I honestly had no idea what Pickleball was until YouTube showed me, what is it you might ask? Pickleball is a paddle sport combining elements of Tennis, Badminton, and table tennis. Our guest this evening, Joy Stafford, is crazy about Pickleball and after watching a few videos I know why. Joy loves to stay active in several ways, she has done countless half-marathons plus several other runs including a full marathon. What is the Great Canadian Crossing? it's a virtual crossing across Canada of 4800 km, you can ski, swim, hike, bike, run, walk, snowshoe and much more, link below. Joy and some of her friends did this fantastic event and so can you. We think after listening to Joy you may want to try Pickleball for yourself, I know I do. Keep on staying active and keep on moving, it's the best thing you can do for yourself.

  • He shoots, he scores - With Ben Engleheart and Mike Tremblay #118
What time of year do people play ball hockey? It could be any time, Summer, Winter, Fall or Spring, anytime is ball hockey time. That is what we discuss in this episode, ball hockey and why people play, where do they play? Is ball hockey just something that young children play outside? or do all sorts of people play at any age? These questions and more are answered by our two guests this evening, Ben Engleheart and Mike Tremblay. Both have played for many years, Mike more defence and Ben all in goal. Does the competitive spirit drive Ben and Mike to keep on playing? getting better perhaps? getting into large tournaments? Maybe hearing about dog rescues and fostering dogs is more your thing. Sit back listen to their story and maybe, just maybe you may want to pick up a stick and try it out.

  • Slush slasher and mashed potato's - With Sylvie Belliveau #117
You are in your late 20s and you believe you will never be good at any sport. You have tried several over the years and they just don't interest you enough over a long period of time to stick with them. Maybe your confidence declines, or maybe it doesn't, either way, sports and you are just not a thing, something doesn't feel right and you are not sure what it is. Then you discover Snowboarding and everything changes. Not overnight perhaps, but over a short period of time. This is exactly what happened to our guest tonight Sylvie Belliveau, and once Sylvie got going there was no stopping her. Starting out slow for a few years to learn her craft, but now Sylvie and her boyfriend hike up mountains just to snowboard down. Anything for that rush and now Sylvie is talking about going off the beaten path and snowboarding in undisturbed areas. Wow! talk about coming full circle. Sylvie is very passionate about what she does, buying a cottage and driving for several hours into Quebec just to go down those wonderful slopes. If there is a sport you want to try but are having a tough time starting, listening to this podcast may help you out. We believe you will enjoy every minute.

All this plus very recently Kevin received his first black belt in Judo, an amazing accomplishment. Kevin is training hard for the Bluenose half marathon soon approaching. Doing all these activities every day helps keep Kevin in shape and keep him one step ahead of his arthritis that was diagnosed back when he was 31. We cover a lot of ground and we know you are really going to like this interview. Cheers Kevin and you and your wife make fantastic ice cream, thank you.

  • The lone Wolf - With Richard Mallet #115
As kids, we stayed active, for our guest tonight Richard Mallet that was also the case. Even today Richard plays hockey, softball, golf and running is a big part of his lifestyle. It wasn't always the case though, like most of us Richard has had his good times and bad. At one point Richard had a 54-day run streak going, very impressive. His life changed and like all of us, he lost his motivation. Enter his very good friend Phillippe Suzor-Morin, Phillippe had a 531-day run streak going, got injured and had to stop. That inspired Richard to take over. Now Richard is over 800 days consecutive and still going. Follow Richard's journey tonight on our podcast and maybe it will inspire you, just keep on moving.

  • The Wolf pack - With Shawna Allaby #114
Rural New Brunswick and what can happen in small places. A business closes and makes an excellent opportunity for another and that opportunity is kickboxing and gymnastics. Tonight our guest is Shawna Allaby and our main focus is on the kickboxing side of things. Shawna has been on our show before but now she is into the teaching side of kickboxing for adults and children. We hear what goes into the teaching of kickboxing. How people love going to the classes and how much it means to them. Sometimes for fitness, sometimes for the social side of things, the reason doesn't matter. What matters is that people are taking the time to teach and people are taking the time to go. Small town or big city, the point is to keep on moving and once you hear Shawna's positive attitude, you will want to get up and get moving.

  • Aim high, then higher - With Philippe Suzor-Morin #112
Tonight our very special guest is Philippe Suzor-Morin chatting with us all the way from Toronto. It doesn't take long to realize Philippe is a highly motivated runner that is constantly finding more and more ways to run plus more distances to overcome. Philippe tells us about how he was breaking ankles as a teenager and because of this, he had to find other ways to keep active, such as running. Training on his treadmill for his first half marathon in 2003 may be a bit unusual for most but not for Philippe. In 2015 Philippe decided that it was time to sign up for his first marathon but he knew changes had to be made. Philippe had gained weight and knew that he had to make small incremental changes to get back into shape and finish that first marathon. Now Philippe has many marathons under his belt but new challenges were calling. First up was a 50km ultra run then a 100Km and next a 100 mile run in September 2021, amazing! Training for the 100-mile run for Philippe is very intriguing, listen to how he did it. A run streak, why not? In 2019 that's exactly what Philippe did, he started a run streak and an accident happened to end that streak. No problem because now Philippe is giving back to his community and helping others and Achilles International Canada is just one of those ways, link below. Another packed episode with tons covered that you won't want to miss.

Going to the gym and riding her motorcycle wasn't enough either, Amy decided to run the Pei. marathon in 2020 and she wasn't even a runner but that didn't stop Amy.
