  • A pace for everyone - With Daryl Steeves #99
Daryl Steeves agreed to spend a little more time with us on our podcast this evening and we are so glad he did. Daryl was on our show in episode #95, link below, and we learn a great deal about Daryl but we never had a chance to really dig into one of his passions, Nordic walking. Tonight we discuss a number of things about Nordic walking and Power hiking and Daryl has a great gift of being able to explain things in such a way that a person can visualize the entire thing. We love this episode and we are sure you will too so sit back and pull up a chair and just think about enjoying some time outside Nordic walking.

  • AVM and how I focus on the things I can do - With Jean Stairs #98
Our very special guest in this episode is Jean Stairs and Jean was and still is very active. Something happened to Jean one day and when she awoke in the hospital 5 days later Jean's life was changed forever. Jean was diagnosed with something called AVM (arteriovenous malformation). Jean was left-side dominant before the accident but after she couldn't move anything on the left side. Jean had to learn all over again, this lady absolutely will not quit and has come a long way. Going from not being able to talk to getting her licence back and driving, this is one story that will impress you. Now Jean is still getting out there and being active by lawn bowling and riding her stationary bike. We believe Jean can do anything.

  • Transcendence 100 - With Alex Quinn part2 #97b
Alex is back in part 2 and the conclusion of his episode. Such a genuine guy and a wonderful storyteller, this episode along with part 1 does not disappoint. Alex goes into more detail about his Transcendence 100 run in Saint John. As he is telling the story I can visualize his run that day. If you listened to part 1 you need to hear part 2 and we do something a bit different at the end. Way to kick butt Alex, nothing can stop you now.

  • There is always a better day - With Alex Quinn part1 #97A
Before we start just a heads up to our listeners. This episode discusses depression, suicidal ideation, as well as talk of smoking weed and drinking. If you or someone you know is struggling you are not alone and there is help in the links below.
Alex Quinn is tonight's special guest and what a story he has. Going from out of shape without much going on, now Alex is doing many crazy events just to keep active and moving. Anxiety attacks were severe enough to stop him in his tracks but somehow Alex found a way. It took time and a great deal of determination and a loving family to help Alex out of his very dark hole but now he flourishes in doing extreme activities. You will want to hear Alex tell the entire story and you won't want to miss part 2 next week.

Interesting and engaging, no one can tell a story like Boyd and what he tells us will knock your socks off. • Decoupling - With Daryl Steeves part2 # 95b
Daryl Steeves is back with part 2 of his episode and what a treat it was for us. We discuss tons of things such as something called marching Anemia. Daryl talks about hitting the wall and how most of us had this wrong all along, including me. We talk about how long it takes to rebuild red blood cells. Daryl tells us about decoupling and what that means for the runners he is coaching, very interesting. We also get into Nordic walking and the baking of bread, I can see the butter melting as we speak. Daryl is simply the best storyteller and after you are done with this episode you will want to go get some homemade bread guaranteed.

  • Coach is in the house - With Daryl Steeves part1 #95A
Diane and I had the pleasure of speaking with Daryl Steeves this evening and what a pleasure it was. Daryl has an extensive background in sports and coaching and has done just about everything and then some. We hear the story of when Daryl was first diagnosed with Arthritis and how he has been very active in spite of that. How he was part of the group to help start the Marathon by the Sea in Saint John. Daryl likes to use the scientific knowledge he has to help him in his coaching. We were informed by Daryl that he has been running since the 60s, now that's a lot of years of running. This episode and part2 are packed so take a seat and listen up because the coach is in the house.

  • What Coca-Cola can do for you - With Nick Landry part2 #94b
In the second part of our discussion with Nick, we talk about what he used for nutrition during his 88km Ultra race. Nick tells us some very surprising things that he ate during the run and what he tells us was very interesting. We talk about what Coca-Cola did for Nick and how he feels about it. Nick tells our listeners a very compelling story about everything that happened to him during his 88Km ultra race, good and bad. Steep Mountain aptly named is one of the big challenges and Nick takes all of them on. After a mental rest, Nick goes back out and destroys the course and finishes very strong. We know Nick has many more Ultra runs left to run and we can't wait to hear more, go get 'em Nick.

  • Halfway to a buckle - With Nick Landry part1 #94A
We welcome Nick laundry back to our podcast this evening. Nick had just completed his first 88Km Ultra trail run at Capes 100. An amazing achievement and we ask him to describe his adventure for us. So many runs have been deferred to this year and Capes was one of those runs. Also deferred to this year were the Fredericton marathon and Keji's backyard Ultra. A great deal of training, running and Km for Nick this year. Nick does a great job telling his story and we can't wait to have Nick on again, because we know what he is planning on doing next. Great job Nick, way to kick butt.

A link to Nick's race report for his 88 Km race at Capes, a wonderful read, everyone should check it out. https://hubcitymiles.blogspot.com/2022/08/capes-100-halfway-to-buckle.html?fbclid=IwAR1FPwlFbTl2c7rU6_uqUe413dRuzG3XUO2rjDazKizbVoMrxjauXNiirBc
