    Send us Fan Mail

Guest Virginia “V for Vendetta” Kuhn comes on the MCP this week with Lacey and the boys to chat about her background and love of mountain biking and her recent experience as a ride guide at Roam Fest in Sedona, Arizona.  She’s a straight up shredder on the trails.  She’s a pretty awesome human off the trails. Don’t miss this episode.

  • 016 - Noid, Cycling PM for Team Semper Fi & Transition Bikes Giddyup Rider (Ryan Beamish)

    Send us Fan Mail

Guest Ryan “Noid” Beamish, Cycling Program Manager for Team Semper Fi, a sports division of the Semper Fi and America’s Fund (thefund.org), discusses serving his brothers and sisters in arms by helping the critically wounded, ill, or injured veterans get connected with cycling. Thru the Fund, Ryan is able to source adaptive bikes specific to the need, from hand to kneeler cycles, and everything in between. This podcast is especially timely as the Bob and Renee Parsons Foundation is currently matching donations thru Dec 31 up to $10 million. Ryan colorfully walks the listener thru inspiring stories of overcoming obstacles like returning from combat, breaking his neck in a bike accident, and saving his dog with recycled bike chain. As a GiddyUp rider with Transition Bikes, Ryan “destroys” the trails (in a good way) like The Noid destroying pizza in the 1980’s. We think you will love the passion in Ryan’s voice as he strives and backs others to be tenderhearted, humble warriors. Today, Tomorrow, Together! Tune in.

    Send us Fan Mail

British ex-pat Craig “Papa Crumpet” Boydell and the Notorious C.H.A.D. join the boys on this episode of the M.C.P.  The conversation flows between multiple interesting topics ranging from British trail centers, the explosion of e-bikes in Europe, adventures at Interbike, and crazy/epic rides, to Craig’s past side gig as a bike wrench gun for hire.  Papa Crumpet has a wealth of bike knowledge and a witty and fun loving sense of humor.  We like him. You’ll like him.

  • 014 - Pickle juice! Pickle juice! Pickle juice! Laid back & nostalgic bike lore with Masa. (Justin Bailes)

    Send us Fan Mail

In this episode, Magellan welcomes Masa to the mountain cog studio.  Masa is an old friend and O.G. mountain bike single speeder who presently hails from Huntsville, Alabama.  This laid back conversation finds the boys reminiscing about a third place trophy, hypohidrosis, and hyperventilating at the Whiskey Off Road before they even left the concrete.  Throw in a healthy dose of pickle juice and some nuggets about the Huntsville mountain bike scene and you’ve got something worth checking out.  Oh, and allow us to foreshadow that after we publish this podcast, Masa will buy himself a new full-squish modern geo bike.  Can you dig it?

  • 013 - A chat about Epic Ride’s “24 Hrs In the Old Pueblo” with Cheetah. (Eric Ebenboch)

    Send us Fan Mail

Special guest E.Z. (a.k.a. Cheetah, a.k.a. Bluto, an heir to the Monroe Bavarian Cheese Dynasty) joins the boys for some shenanigans and a discussion loosely related to the guys upcoming adventure; Epic Ride’s 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo (www.epicrides.com). E.Z. and Hype Man ask questions about the course, event facilities, equipment, spandex vs. baggies, and dive deep into the joy of eurostyle chamois cream (it tingles in all the right places!).   All the while, Magellan tries to convince E.Z. (team Mountain Cog’s ringer) how to best train, in Wisconsin, in the winter, and at 873 feet of elevation.  You might laugh, you’ll probably cry, and you’ll definitely groan listening to this one.

  • 011 - Ladies night on the M.C.P. & these ladies are faster than you! (Lacey Anderson & Ashley Wright)

    Send us Fan Mail

In this episode the boys are joined by Ashley “Smashley” Wright and La La La La Lacey Anderson for a very interesting conversation centered around the explosion of female mountain bikers coming into the sport.  Mike and Josh stumble around while Smashley and La La La La Lacey school the boys on the difference between the male and female mountain bike cultures.  Pay attention bros because these ladies lay some good advice on us about how to get more women into the sport, the bikes they dig, and how women might be progressing faster than men due to their openness to mountain bike coaching.  These ladies are fast, well versed, and have great senses of humor.  If you don’t like this episode, you’re wrong.

  • 010 - Travel through Mexico, on a public bus, for a bike contest? (Chris Miracle)

    Send us Fan Mail

Chris Miracle – (aka “Miracle”) joins Magellan and Hype Man for a humorous and interesting discussion of an OG BMX dirt jumping legend and his recent shift into racing Enduro MTB.  As you would have guessed, Josh and Mike can’t even get thru a Dad Joke correctly, but Josh totally redeems himself with the knowledge of Saint Bridget who turns bathwater to beer.

Inspired by the epic 1986 BMX movie, Rad, Miracle is an uber rad dude who quit team sports as a youngster in favor of becoming a BMX “outcast”. Miracle takes us down memory lane that involves him even taking the Crucero bus to do shows and competitions in Mexico. Fast forward to now, going from punk rock BMX to professional desk jockey, Chris races MBAA Enduro as a weekend warrior.  Connected with all the big-name riders from southern Arizona, when you listen to the show, you will understand why Miracle is a beloved name in the sport.

  • 009 - True confessions of two new mountain bikers! (Dan Macinnis)

    Send us Fan Mail

You spoke, we listened.  Punk Rock Dan returns by popular demand.  In this episode, Josh attempts (and as usual, fails) to interview Dan & Hype Man about their experiences and perceptions of mountain bike gear, culture, and riding as relatively new entrants into the sport.  The humorous conversation goes from the prohibitive costs of getting into the sport, to Strava, flow vs tech trails, and many of the recent advancements in bike tech. We had a lot of fun recording this podcast and we know you’ll dig it as well.
