My Immune System Hates Me!

Christine is the lucky winner of 2 autoimmune diseases: Graves Disease, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. At one point, her RA was so severe that she was unable to walk. After working with a team of doctors, including a physical and occupational therapist, she’s back on her feet and is on a mission to raise awareness about life with autoimmune disorders.

Treatment for Type 1 Diabetes has evolved since Mikki was first diagnosed. She’s no longer stabbing herself with insulin injections or pricking her fingers to check her blood sugar. However, even with these technological advances, Type 1 Diabetes is still a full-time job!

This week, Chelsey is talking with Shawna who has been through a lot with her Crohn’s Disease (as well as her other issues... she collects them). Yet, somehow, she’s got a great sense of humor about it and won’t let her illness take over her life.

Much like with an autoimmune disease, Emily has to manage her anxiety on a daily basis. By eliminating triggering foods and going for lots of walks, she is no longer having 8 panic attacks a day (yes, a day!). And to help her get through the extra stressful days, she’s got her best pal/emotional support animal, Charlie.

Pro tip: If you're going into anaphylaxis multiple times a week for months on end, you might have an immunological condition. That's what happened to Megan, Chelsey's boss/best friend. After suffering through constant allergic reactions and using dozens of EpiPens, Megan was finally diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome.

Natalie has struggled with autoimmune issues for a long time and it hasn't been easy. She's been diagnosed, misdiagnosed, and has even battled cancer while pregnant. Somehow, she's kept an upbeat attitude and isn't letting her illness stop her!
