The Gospel According to Mary Magdalene: Verse 25-26
“Peter said to him, Since you have explained everything to us, tell us this also: What is the sin of the world? The Savior said There is no sin, but it is you who make sin when you do the things that are like the nature of…”
In this passage, Peter asks Jesus about the nature of the sin of the world, and Jesus responds by stating that …there is no sin!?
Instead, Jesus suggests that it is individuals who create sin when they engage in actions that align with a certain nature.
The interpretation of this verse may vary, but one possible understanding is rooted in the idea that sin is not an inherent, absolute reality imposed by divine decree. Instead, it could be seen as a consequence of human choices that deviate from a higher, more spiritual nature. This perspective implies a certain level of personal responsibility for one's actions, suggesting that individuals contribute to the creation of sin through their own behavior.
It's important to note that interpretations of religious texts, especially non-canonical ones like the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, can be subjective and context-dependent. Different scholars and believers may offer diverse perspectives on the meaning of this verse. Some might contend that the emphasis here is on personal agency and the idea that individuals play a role in shaping their ethical and spiritual conditioning.
Overall, the interpretation of this verse encourages reflection on the nature of sin, personal responsibility, and the relationship between human actions and spiritual well-being.

Enochian magic is a system of ceremonial magic based on the evocation and commanding of celestial beings or angels. It is often associated with the works of Dr. John Dee and Edward Kelley in the late 16th century. The term "Enochian" is derived from the Book of Enoch, an ancient Jewish apocalyptic text attributed to Enoch, a biblical figure. However, it's important to note that the connection between the Book of Enoch and the system of magic developed by Dee and Kelley is more symbolic than direct.
John Dee (1527–1608) was a mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, and advisor to Queen Elizabeth I. He teamed up with Edward Kelley, a medium, in the late 16th century to communicate with angels and receive divine revelations. According to Dee and Kelley, they made contact with angels through a series of scrying sessions using a crystal ball. The angels supposedly provided them with a complex system of magic, including a unique language called Enochian.
Enochian is a language that Dee and Kelley claimed was the language of the angels. It consists of a series of letters and symbols arranged in a grid, and it is said to have its own grammar and syntax. The system includes a set of angelic names, divine words, and various symbols that were believed to have magical properties. The most famous aspect of Enochian magic is the Enochian Tablets, a series of four elemental tablets, each associated with a cardinal direction.
The hierarchy of angels in Enochian magic is organized into several levels or "aethyrs." These aethyrs are considered different planes of existence, each ruled by specific angelic entities. The angels are associated with divine attributes, and their names and sigils are used in rituals for various magical purposes.
While Enochian magic has roots in the 16th century with Dee and Kelley, it gained renewed interest in the 18th and 19th centuries during the occult revival. The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a secret society founded in the late 19th century, incorporated Enochian magic into its teachings. Members of the Golden Dawn, such as Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers and Aleister Crowley, further developed and popularized Enochian magic in their occult practices.
In summary, Enochian magic is a ceremonial magical system based on the supposed communication with angels through the efforts of John Dee and Edward Kelley. It involves a unique language called Enochian, a complex hierarchy of angels, and various symbols and rituals for invoking and commanding these celestial beings. The system gained prominence in the 18th and 19th centuries through the works of occultists like Mathers and Crowley, who integrated it into the teachings of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.

Sumerian mythology is rich and complex, featuring a pantheon of gods and goddesses, each with distinct characteristics and roles. Two of the prominent deities in Sumerian mythology are Ea (also known as Enki) and Enlil. These two gods indeed had contrasting attitudes toward humanity, which can be explored with the help of quotes from the "Epic of Atrahasis."
1. Ea (Enki):
Ea is often depicted as a god of wisdom, water, and magic. He is associated with the Apsu, the freshwater ocean beneath the earth.
Ea is portrayed as a benevolent deity who cared for and sought to protect humanity. He was considered a friend of humanity and was often seen as a source of guidance and assistance.
In the "Epic of Atrahasis," Ea is described as the god who warned Atrahasis (the Sumerian Noah figure) about the impending flood, advising him to build an ark to save humanity and animals.
2. Enlil:
Enlil, on the other hand, is a god associated with air, storms, and wind. He held a prominent position in the Sumerian pantheon and was often seen as a ruler of the gods.
In the "Epic of Atrahasis," Enlil is depicted as a god who wanted to suppress humanity due to their noisy and disruptive nature. He proposed to wipe out humanity with a catastrophic flood to restore peace and quiet to the world.
The quote "Enlil committed an evil deed against the people" in the "Epic of Atrahasis" refers to his decision to unleash the flood that would devastate humanity, an act viewed as malevolent from the human perspective.
Now, let's draw a connection between Enlil and the biblical God Yahweh:
Enlil's character and actions in Sumerian mythology bear some resemblance to certain aspects of the biblical God Yahweh, particularly when considering the story of the Great Flood in the Bible, which is often compared to the Sumerian flood myth. There are some similarities between Enlil and Yahweh in the context of these flood stories, such as the decision to destroy humanity due to their perceived wickedness.
In summary, in Sumerian mythology, Ea (Enki) was a benevolent deity who sought to help humanity, while Enlil was inclined to suppress it. Enlil's decision to send a flood to wipe out humanity in the "Epic of Atrahasis" can be compared to the biblical story of the Great Flood, where God's decision to flood the Earth has been seen as similar in nature.

In this episode, I delve into the intriguing story of Marcion of Sinope, a significant figure in early Christianity with beliefs that sent shockwaves through the emerging early Christian community. Join me as we explore the life, beliefs, and impact of this enigmatic character.
Marcion's beliefs were groundbreaking and highly controversial. He proposed a dualistic worldview, where he distinguished between two gods—an unknown God of love and mercy in the New Testament, and a “little-g” god of justice and judgment in the Old Testament. According to Marcion, the Old Testament was the work of a completely different deity.
Marcion’s reasoning can still be clearly seen within our modern Bibles today by using a Strongs Greek/Hebrew concordance if you're willing to suspend disbelief and dig deeper into the roots of the original words.
Marcion's rejection of the Old Testament and his selection of a unique Christian canon, featured only a subset of Paul's letters and a modified version of the Gospel of Luke, this led to a major schism in early Christianity. Major conflicts and debates that erupted within the Christian community as a result of his teachings.
The impact of Marcionism on the development of Christian theology is polarizing even today, including his (often heretically viewed) formation of a New Testament canon. His controversial ideas prompted early Christian theologians to define the boundaries of orthodox doctrine and decide which texts were authoritative.
Join me on this journey through the life and beliefs of Marcion of Sinope, a figure whose legacy, though ultimately marginalized in Christian history, left a lasting mark on the early Christian world and the shaping of the New Testament as we know it today.
