The word envy comes from the Latin "invidere" which means "look upon" - A desire to have something possessed by another. 

Narcissistic mothers know that they are superior to everyone else, especially their daughters. If you re the daughter you felt your mother appraising you very early and finding you wanting. She picked away at your self confidence. Her tone of voice was demeaning. She never approved of you. 

The daughter is psychologically immobilized and unable to activate her gifts. She is frightened all of the time.

Nothing you accomplish will ever win mother's praise or approval. She despises your warmth, intelligence, creativity and especially authenticity and spontaneity. 

At a point of awakening you recognized that this woman is not capable of mothering. You separate and find your way along your own pathway of evolution and transformation.
