The control obsessed narcissistic personality insists that their spouse or partner must to as they are directed by this tyrannical figure. Some partners are not permitted to participate in social activities or even have close friends. 

The narcissist is a puppeteer who pus others at his mercy. He pulls the strings of personal power in his spouses and children. No authentic relationship is possible with the narcissistic personality. It is all a duplicitous fabrication, a series of false shiny images tht are devoid of feelings, meaning, compassion or humanity.

Highly controlling narcissists rule by intimidation, inflicting shame and humiliation. Those who remain tied to the cruelties of these narcissistic spouses often have family background of psychological trauma and deprivation perpetrated by narcissistic parents. 

These children don't  feel entitled to think, feel, dream and create in freedom. In some cases they marry a partner who demands the same kind of intimidating obedience that was imposes on them as children

For some there is a time of awakening, a recognition that you deserve and can be free. This is a fortuitous moment of truth for the abused spouse. The true self is at work in you as you move forward along your own pathways, using your creative gifts, become receptive to authentic, empathic relationships with others whom you can trust. 

Practice self care each day: sleep, rest, nourishing food, hydration, move and exercise, be in Nature, find a way of prayer or meditation that works for you personally. Pay close attention to the messages from your intuition, the source of all truth.
