Happy Labor Day!! This week on the pod, Holly & I discuss overeating and
why there's so much hype about it in diet culture. As its core, diet
culture has roots in fatphobia, and we chat about how and why diet media
links overeating and fatphobia so closely together. There are a lot of
articles and people on social media that may try to tell you to "get back
on track" after you experience a day or meal of overeating, and we're here
to let you know that you don't have to do that because it's B.S. We also
get into some more signs of disordered eating (and how diet culture
perpetrates those behaviors -- it nearly normalizes them), and the fact
that disordered eating tendencies only seem to become a “recognized
problem” or a diagnosis until an individual does the habits for long
enough. But...in actuality, it’s *always* a problem — it’s not just a
problem when it is fully classified as an eating disorder. Thank you so
much for listening!!
