This week Andy goes on a solo mission, chatting to Edouard Meylan, the charismatic and thoughtful CEO of H. Moser. From how the Meylan's acquired the legacy brand and what the future holds, through to the importance of community in brand building, we quickly learn that Moser does things a little different.
Nowhere is that more apparent than with their periodic campaigns poking fun at the wider industry. From watches made of Swiss cheese to the masterful parody that is the Alp Watch, Moser isn't afraid of being bold. But behind the sometimes polarising pranks, there's always a purpose: standing up for what you believe in, a trait that makes Moser the brand they are today.
It's not all Moser talk though, before the interview, Felix and Andy talk about just how wild it is that Tudor has a brand-new stand-alone boutique in Melbourne, something unimaginable a few years ago. Plus, some top-line thoughts on the new Black Bay Fifty-Eight in bronze.

Joe Salanitri is one leg of the tripod that is Sooshi Mango. The comedy trio shot to fame on social media thanks to their witty response to the pandemic and their incredibly accurate portrayal of multicultural Australian life. We chat to Joe about whether we should have masks on (or off), the changing nature of comedy and the importance of punching up, as well about changing ethnic identity in Australia, as well as the challenges of selling out an arena show during a global pandemic. Naturally, we also chat about watches, including the surprising Sea-Dweller Joe's got on his radar.

In a shocking twist of events, today's guest is … nobody! Instead, Andy and Felix roll out some good old-fashioned Watch Making for Robert, who's in the market for a well-priced, heirloom grade watch. Robert will also go down in history for penning Andy and Felix's couple name.
On top of that, it's halfway through the year, so the perfect time for a quick listicle of the best new watches clocking in at under $5000 USD. Or — depending on who you are, slightly over. What even are budgets? So, if you're up for an episode of solid watch chat, this is the one for you.

Watch Matchmaker for Robert
OG listener to the podcast and love your work. I'm in a pickle. I love watches and love my wife, but buying heaps of watches isn't something I can afford, unfortunately. I have my sights set on buying a blue omega SMP 300 as my exit watch (well at least for a long while). I know a Rolex is unrealistic, especially at RRP. So is there anything else you guys recommend? At some stage, once I produce miniature Roberts, I will pass them on. I work in a dental clinic, and I usually wear an Apple Watch as I do CrossFit and triathlons for fun. My budget is max 9k, and I'm open to anything (diver, Chrono etc), but it needs to be something I can wear to work, weekends and ideally something slight dressy (it doesn't have to be a dress watch).

Today's guest is the cool, calm and collected Cole Pennington from Hodinkee. We got up with Cole fresh from a stint in Thailand, a country close to his watch-collecting heart and one with a special relationship with Seiko. Speaking of Seiko, Cole and Felix politely disagree about the legendary Monster, and Cole talks about the one that got away. We also chat about Cole's important story uncovering a new space watch and how he went about putting it together. From there, we dig into the watch stories that make Cole tick, the ones he can't tell, and why he's busy telling his own story fishing with a Rolex Pepsi in the Ozarks.

In addition to being one of the original streamers and one of Minecraft's first employees, Lydia Winters is also super into her watches, as anyone who follows her dedicated watch account @enjoythewatches will know. On the professional side, we find out just what a 'Chief Storyteller' does and how Lydia started streaming in the wild days of the internet, and that led to her working for one of the biggest games in the world.
In parallel, we discover how Lydia's love of watches grew over the years, with a collection including Nomos, Tudor, Omega and more. We also explore the parallels between gaming and watch collecting communities. Even if you've never played Minecraft before in your life, you won't want to miss this fascinating discussion with Lydia Winters.

In the world of high-end independent watchmaking, Max Büsser is a king. Well, maybe not a king; he's more of an alchemist, somehow turning his dreams into incredible creations of steel, gold and sapphire. While this romantic vision is pretty accurate, it's only part of the picture.
Max tells us about the anger and frustration that caused MB&F to be born, the importance of friends, the madness of developing 22 calibres in 20 years and why Max is determined to run his business differently. We also talk about the entirely selfish way Max designs watches and how that's reflected in the evolving style of the brand, which has shifted from blocky to biomorphic.
Finally, we find out about the delicate art of product naming and get a sneak peek at the MB&F 'Andy'.

This week Andy and Felix talk to Chris Hall, a man steering the watch content of one of the most influential online retailers in the business, Mr Porter. Before that, though, they discuss the watches they've seen in the last week, including the new IWC AMG collab and the latest and greatest new releases from Cartier. But back to Chris.
Taking up the mantle of Mr Porter's Senior Watch Editor in the midst of a global pandemic is no easy feat, but Chris has handled it with aplomb. We find out just why someone would consider buying a watch off Mr Porter and which of the new releases stand out for him (hint, Hermès and JLC get a lot of love). It's a wild time for online watch retail, so you don't want to miss this insightful chat.

South African-born professional explorer Mike Horn has lived a heck of a life. He's sailed around the world 27 times, walked around it three times, crossed Antarctica and summited some of the world's highest peaks. And he's down much of it with a Panerai on his wrist. But before we get to Mike, Andy and Felix chat about some of Panerai's latest releases and just how they feel about scratching up their watches.
Fair warning, though, neither of them have submitted their watch to even a fraction of the abuse that Mike Horn's Panerai's have endured. Mike tells us about the time he used his watch as a piton, but also what drives him into the wild, and what the point of exploration is when the map has been filled in, and what it's like to witness climate change first hand. Not only has his experience made him a perfect ambassador for Panerai for the last 21 years, but it's made him the perfect person to push Panerai down the path of sustainability.

Now that Watches & Wonders is firmly in our rearview mirrors and the dust has settled, we thought it was high time to do some soul-searching and come up with our favourite releases from the virtual fair. Felix, in typical fashion, went a little weird and focused on some less-hyped releases and, in a spectacular cop-out move, picked every single colourful watch from the fair.
Andy, however, played it relatively straight with four rock-solid choices, including a controversial Rolex, some colourful options and a knock-out Perpetual Calendar from none other than A. Lange & Söhne.

The second we aired our first interview with James Dowling in 2020, we knew we had to have him back on for part two. It might have taken us 12 months, but it worth the wait. This time around, we talk about Rolex (I mean, when you're known online as @MisterRolex is kind of comes up), but our conversation takes some unexpected turns, like investing in tins of sardines. In fact, we talk about Dowling's love of exploring the 'dead ends' of watches, small manufacturers, Swiss quartz from the 70s and 80s (including his prototype Rolex Quartz Perpetual calendar), deck watches and other ephemera.
James also reluctantly gives his advice to new collectors, who he believes have a much harder time finding interesting and accessible watches than earlier generations of collectors, given that the internet has largely taken away the joy of discovery. Luckily though, new collectors are still able to learn from their mistakes, something Dowling thinks is invaluable. Buckle up and hit play because you're in for a wild ride with Mister Rolex.
