台灣在紙飛機大賽中獲獎
Taiwan Wins at a Paper Plane Competition
Making paper planes (紙飛機) is something many of us do when we're bored (無聊), or when we have nothing to play with.
But for some people, building and flying paper planes is a serious hobby (嗜好).
That's probably why there is an international paper plane competition (國際紙飛機大賽) that happens every year.
116 students from 60 countries took part in the official Paper Plane World Championships in Austria.
And only 15 of the competitors (參賽者) ended up in the Super Finals.
The planes in the competition were made with bright red sheets of A4 paper.
They could fold the paper into any shape they wanted, as long as the plane could fly.
Competitors were not allowed to cut, tear, glue, or staple (用釘書機釘) their paper planes.
There were several competitions.
Many competitors were only asked to see how high and how far their planes could fly.
But some people also competed in the "aerobatics" (特技飛行) category.
These people needed to show that they could fly a plane, and do something else at the same time.
他們需要讓紙飛機飛起來,同時還要做其他表演。
A South Korean won first place, for flying his paper planes and doing magic tricks (表演魔術) at the same time.
A Malaysian student named Beh Seng Fatt, who studies at the University of Taipei, won second place for Taiwan.
He showed that he could fly a paper plane and use a diabolo (扯鈴) at the same time.
Beh says it took him 15 years to learn to use the diabolo.
The competition wasn't easy for Beh.
He had to go against (對抗) 18 other competitors from different countries.
Beh also said he was very surprised when he won second place, because he only entered the competition for fun!
But we're sure he was still very happy when he won.

女王等級的甜點
A Dessert Fit for a Queen
Queen Elizabeth II of Britain (英國女王伊麗莎白二世) is celebrating a very special day this year.
This year, she celebrates 70 years of being the Queen of Great Britain.
It's an important event for the people of Britain, because no British king or queen has ever been a monarch (君主) for this long.
The event is called the Platinum Jubilee (白金禧), and many people across Britain are celebrating it.
The country will have a big, four-day party, from June 2nd to June 5th.
There will be street parties (街頭派對), and people in communities (社區) will get together (聚在一起) to enjoy a big lunch (午餐).
And because people who work with the queen wanted to do something extra-special, they decided to have a cake-making contest.
The winner's cake would be known as the Platinum Pudding (白金布丁).
It would be a dessert fit for a queen.
這會是一個女王等級的甜點。
More than 5,000 people joined the cake-making competition.
They wanted to see if they could make a dessert that could be called the "Platinum Pudding".
In the end, the person who won the contest was named Jemma.
She made a lemon-flavored trifle (英式鬆糕).
The trifle was made with cake, lemon-favored jam, cream, and cookies.
Jemma said she made the cake to honor (榮耀) her grandmother, who liked lemons.
The judges (評審) agreed that the trifle was the best cake they had tasted in the contest.

你會跨過這條橋嗎?
Would You Cross This Bridge?
If you are afraid of heights (懼高), this is not the bridge for you.
The Sky Bridge 721 (天空之橋) is in the Czech Republic (捷克共和國).
It took two years to build.
It is 725 meters long, and hangs 95 meters above the ground.
The bridge is the longest suspension bridge (吊橋) in the world.
Some people are not happy with the bridge, because they say it ruins (毀了) the mountain area it was built in.
But officials (官員) like the bridge, because they say it will bring more tourists (遊客) and visitors to the area.
