Abandoned Penghu School Turned into Campground

A school that closed years ago is starting a new life.

Yuan Bei Elementary School in Penghu County closed in 1995.

It was on a beautiful part of Penghu, with green hills, and right next to the blue ocean.

But the school did not have enough students to stay open.

So now the school is becoming a campground.

The government spent 26 million NT, to set up Yuan Bei Campground.

Old school buildings have been changed into restaurants, and places to relax.

And the campground also has cabins, a place to barbecue, showers, a viewing deck, and a pathway along the beach.

園區內有小木屋、露營平台、新式度假屋、淋浴間、觀景平台、海濱步道，也提供海島特色餐食和野炊烤肉。

People can walk out to the ocean, right outside their cabin.

And at night, they will be able to see lots of stars.

The government hopes Yuan Bei Campground will become a tourist hotspot that lets people enjoy natural beauty in a way that's good for the environment.

Crashing a Spaceship to Save Earth

We've taken big steps in exploring space in the past few years.

We've flown to Mars.

We've landed on the dark side of the moon.

We've flown around Saturn.

And we've even grown lettuce in space.

But usually, when flying out into space, we try NOT to crash (碰撞、撞擊) our spaceship into something… right?

To crash here means to hit something hard.

This word is often used for cars, airplanes, and here, for spaceships.

Next month, NASA's DART mission will fly out into space.

And its job, will be to crash!

There are lots of things in space, like asteroids (小行星) and comets (彗星), that come close to Earth.

If those things come too close, they could be dangerous, and might even hit Earth.

This may never happen, but the U.S. space agency wants to get ready, just in case.

So on November 23rd, NASA will send a spacecraft out into space.

Then, in September 2022, NASA will make the spacecraft crash into a small moon going around an asteroid.

The small moon is about 160 meters wide, and is named Dimorphos.

And in September 2022, Dimorphos will be about 11 million kilometers from Earth.

That's pretty close for things in space.

NASA will make its spacecraft crash into Dimorphos, and then see what happens.

They want to see if they can change the path (路徑) of Dimorphos, and send it further away from Earth.

And all this information will help them know what they would need to do to stop something from hitting our planet.

Britney's Engagement Ring Hugely Popular

A pop star's new piece of jewelry is getting a lot of attention.

Britney Spears recently got engaged to her longtime boyfriend, Sam Asghari.

When he popped the question (求婚), he gave Britney a custom-made ring.

The ring includes a 4-carat (克拉) diamond, set in platinum (白金), and cost 70 thousand U.S. dollars.

小甜甜布蘭妮和男朋友訂婚了，訂製的訂婚戒指價值七萬美元。

The company that designed the ring says they have received many calls from people who want a similar piece.

They say hundreds of people have inquired (詢問) about getting their own version of Britney's ring.

The company says they will sell ones that are close to, but not exactly the same as Britney's.

Britney and Sam's wedding probably won't be for quite a while, they haven't begun making plans for the ceremony.
