She joined us for Perspective to tell us more.

  • Pope Francis 'is not being listened to' on plight of migrants, expert says
Pope Francis is visiting the southern French port city of Marseille to show solidarity with the plight of migrants there. It comes a decade on from a landmark visit to the Italian island of Lampedusa at the start of his papacy, where he condemned the "global indifference" to their suffering. The pontiff has travelled to many migration hotspots in that time, with harsh words for Europeans who, he says, live in a bubble in a "culture of prosperity" that makes them apathetic. In Perspective, we look at whether the words and efforts of Pope Francis have made any difference to those in power. Camille Le Coz is a senior policy analyst at the Migration Policy Institute Think Tank. She's been speaking to FRANCE 24's Gavin Lee.

  • 'Tiohtiá:ke': Exploring the challenges facing Montreal's indigenous communities
According to a 2016 census, some 35,000 residents of Montreal, Canada identify as indigenous. The city is also home to one of the country's fastest-growing indigenous populations. But these communities still face major challenges as a result of generational trauma linked to Canada's dark past. Innu journalist and writer Michel Jean's eighth book, "Tiohtiá:ke", explores this theme through a fictional account of an indigenous man who was banished from the Nutashkuan community. • What to expect from King Charles III's state visit to France?
King Charles III and Queen Camilla are kicking off a three-day state visit to France this Wednesday, a trip that begins with a ceremony at Paris's Arc de Triomphe, and ends with a tour of an organic vineyard in the southwestern city of Bordeaux. Charles had intended for France to be his first state visit as king back in March, but nationwide street protests over pension reforms forced him to delay. We know that blue lobster is on the menu for his supper tonight at the Palace of Versailles, but what's on the menu, politically speaking? In Perspective, we spoke to Andrew Smith, a historian of modern France.

  • Libya floods: ‘A natural disaster that became a man-made catastrophe’
Over a week on from the devastating flash floods that washed whole neighbourhoods into the sea in eastern Libya, killing thousands, Libya is in dire need of assistance. Years of war and political division mean the country is badly ill-equipped to coordinate the international help that has been offered. On top of that, says Tarek Megerisi, Libya expert at the European Council on Foreign Relations, years of neglected infrastructure coupled with historical mistreatment of the residents of the devastated city of Derna, mean last Sunday’s flash floods were "a natural disaster that became a man-made catastrophe".

  • 'Empathy Lab': Paris art exhibit explores our complex relationship with technology
Humans have a complex relationship with technology. it's brought immeasurable progress in most domains of our existence, but it also has negative consequences for our jobs, our mental health, even our survival, according to the most alarmist predictions. Either way, we're now so dependent on it that technology can almost be seen as an extension of ourselves. Visual artist Colin Martin explores this idea in his paintings. His latest project, "Empathy Lab", is on display at the Irish Cultural Center in Paris this weekend. He joined us on Perspective.

  • Toufah Jallow: The woman who inspired Gambia's #Metoo moment
It's been over six years since the start of the #metoo movement, which saw women denounce misogyny worldwide. From the United States and Europe to Asia and Latin America. But what about the African continent? From accusations #metoo was largely western-centric, to claims that fear of a backlash silenced African women, the movement arguably had a slower impact there. Toufah Jallow, who accused the former Gambian president of rape, changed that.
