  • Is it too late to avoid the worst of the climate crisis?
In what was largely seen as a final warning, the latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) climate report cautioned that it's "now or never" if the world wants to prevent an irreversible climate disaster. As global leaders struggle to make meaningful changes, some of the world's most vulnerable nations are already facing the consequences of inaction. Roxy Koll, climate scientist at the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology and a lead author of the IPCC reports, joined us on Perspective to tell us more.

North Korea is one of the world's poorest and most isolated countries, and yet it still has one of the most formidable – and dangerous – hacking networks on the planet. The Lazarus Group has targeted major international companies, stolen millions from banks and even shut down hospital departments. Investigative journalist Geoff White's forthcoming book "The Lazarus Heist" recounts how these networks emerged and the growing threat they pose today. He joined us for Perspective.

  • Brazil's Pedro Cesarino on deconstructing stereotypes about anthropology
After studying philosophy, Brazilian national Pedro Cesarino grew tired of Western systems of knowledge and decided to study other ways of thinking and living. He is now a renowned anthropologist and has published articles and books based on his field research with the Amazon's Marubo community. His first novel tells the story of a melancholy anthropologist hoping to track down a myth in the Amazon rainforest. It explores the certainty with which many anthropologists approach the communities they study and the resulting misunderstandings. He joined us for Perspective.

After the war, Pilecki was tried and executed. For years, he was described as a traitor and an enemy of the Polish state. Our Perspective guest has written a book about his incredible story. Jack Fairweather is the award-winning author of "The Volunteer: One Man, an Underground Army, and the Secret Mission to Destroy Auschwitz". He told us about the parallels between Pilecki's legacy and the ongoing war in Ukraine.

  • Life in Afghanistan 'has become a prison for most women and girls'
Afghanistan is heading back to the pre-2001 dark days of the Taliban, and Western powers were naive if they ever thought this wouldn't be the case. That's the view of Heather Barr, associate women's rights director at Human Rights Watch. As women are told to cover their faces in public again and female television presenters are told to do the same, she spoke to us on Perspective about the how the Taliban are rolling back women's rights and what, if anything, the West can do about it. "Life has become a prison for most women and girls," she told us.

The tragedy comes amid increasing calls for greater gun control measures.
