Everything matters and nothing matters. In this week's podcast I'm going to give you a little bit of a Kansas City shuffle, a little bit of looking left and going right.
Now, the YouTube algorithm creates and rewards content that might seem pretty cool, or unicorn, at first. Ask yourself these questions; is the content right for me where I am right now? is this what I need right now in my pickleball journey?
The word of the week is UNICORN and in this podcast episode I explain to you the real unicorn in pickleball.
In the riff, we're going to talk about a concept that was in a movie that I saw a little bit ago now. There's a phrase in that movie that I think we can apply to our pickleball experience in terms of both the positives and the negatives that sometimes happen.

We also talk about that micro journey within her bigger journey on the mental side of pickleball and how that changed her approach.
Jenna describes herself as a peacekeeper at heart and a little bit strong willed while on the court. Listen to this episode as Jenna shares the process of understanding herself on the court and much more!

If you're feeling frustrated with your Pickleballs development, there is a way out. That way out is through understanding the picture of Pickleball, understanding that Pickleball has a design to it. There's a beautiful puzzle that is created by the rules and the court that we play on.
What is your puzzle box cover? What's your approach to solving the puzzle?
The word of the week this week is puzzle and the FOSS approach is a way to navigate that puzzle to put those pieces together.
In this episode I explain why the FOSS approach is so helpful and why it's something that you should add to your thinking about pickleball and to your approach to this game.
In the riff, I'm going to vent a little bit as a coach from my vantage point as a trainer, as a Pickleball coach, and share with you some frustrations that I've experienced as a player and a person who wants other players to do the best they can in their game.

It's a myth that doing things simply is not the way to advance as a big old player. Just nothing could be further from the truth.
As a Pickleball player, learning how to do the basics well and doing them over and over again is really how you play amazing pickleball.
I'll give you one example. When you're returning serve, aim your shot 3 feet over the net. It is not going to look 'advanced' yet it's going to be highly effective and it's going to be safer.
Bruce Lee said, 'I fear not the fighter who has practiced 10,000 kicks one time. I fear the fighter who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.'
In the riff, I'm going to talk about freeing your body and your mind when you play. This is an area that I see more and more as I coach, which is players feeling trapped inside their own bodies and minds.

When we play pickleball, we sometimes get hung up on metrics that are not helpful and that actually end up being potentially destructive to the game. The most common one is win-loss. In this podcast I get into two different types of metrics and give you some ideas to pick a metric that's right for you.
The first grouping are big picture metrics. These are metrics that will help you greatly improve your relationship with Pickleball and make you that player that everybody looks forward to playing with.
There's really nothing better than everybody wanting to play with you as their partner.
In the riff I'm going to explain the mystery of the phone ring that we have at the beginning of every episode; why the ringer is in there and to make some suggestions on how to address the ringer, if it's something that you'd like for it to be something different.

What does it mean to be a good partner? This week we re-frame that question and give tips on how you can become a better partner. Hopefully at least one will give you something you can work on in your doubles play.
Playing with a partner is a two-way street, a team sport and our behavior impact our partners' play and vice versa. That team/partner dynamic is so important to your ability to succeed as a doubles team.
So what's a good partner?
In this episode, we're going to be talking about partner play, how to frame it a little bit differently than you're thinking, and also some tips on how you can become a much better partner out there. Pick the tip that most resonates with you.
In the riff, I want to talk about the recent situation that occurred with Annaly Waters, a young but very talented player, during a tournament; what happened, how folks have reacted to it, and what we as Pickleball players can take away from it.

Lee Whitwell is a professional pickleball player, but more importantly, she is an ambassador of the sport.
In this special episode of the podcast I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Lee Whitwell as she shares insights into how she addresses the game from a mental standpoint and why she plays pickleball.
In the Riff, we're going to talk about some stories that you're going to share about other players.
'The shot doesn't change because of the score. We change the shot because of the score, but the execution of the shot should never change.'- Lee Whitwell
