Poz Vibe Podcast

Professor Fiona Lyons is a consultant in genitourinary and HIV medicine at St James's Hospital, Dublin, and a clinical professor in the School of Medicine at Trinity College Dublin. She has worked in HIV care since 1993. Fiona says when she started her career there was little hope that people living with HIV on effective treatment could expect the same life expectancy as everyone else but that has changed. 

For ten years Fiona was clinical lead of the HSE's National Sexual Health Programme. In this role, she was central to the development of Ireland's first ever sexual health strategy, the roll out of PrEP - a medication that, when taken, can prevent HIV infection and the launch of the free, national, at home STI screening service - SH24.

During this time the HSE also partnered with Poz Vibe Tribe on the "You, Me and HIV" campaign, which set out to challenge public perceptions of HIV.

Fiona has since returned to full-time clinical work at the GUIDE Clinic at St James's, caring for people living with HIV and those with sexual health needs.

Dan, known on his scene as Pup Rolo, is a Rubber and Puppy Player known for his advocacy of the Irish kink community. He held the title of Mr Rubber Ireland 2021 and placed second at Mr International Rubber in Chicago in 2023. He is a founder and secretary of Pups and Handlers of Ireland who recently celebrated their tenth birthday as a community group. He produces the Puppy Ireland title hosted during Dublin Leather Weekend which will take place in Pantibar on Saturday 23rd January 2027. Alongside his roles in the pup play space Dan is an active volunteer for both Leathermen of Ireland and Out in Kink, and most recently has established Ireland's newest iteration of Rubber socials under the banner "Shine Ireland" 

Pup Blondie is a Dublin based kinkster, living and loving life with their partner Rolo. This over caffeinated canine lends a supporting role as the go to volunteer for whatever endeavour the Pups & Handlers of Ireland have in their doggy bowl. Tasks may include lifting heavy things, decorating events and acting as a doggy/dodgy DJ during the Puppy Ireland election. Blondie has attended fetish events from Folsom Berlin to Fort Lauderdale Florida, Manchester to Antwerp and is excited to attend many more in the future. For him, fetish is a link between many communities that create bonds of familiarity and acceptance, love and openness. The ideals of this community are to tear down the stigmas of shame and encourage pride and self care. To quote his favourite song "What the world needs now.."

With six years in the hair industry, Donna Fennessy is a barber and stylist who sees hair as so much more than just a haircut. For her, it’s about confidence, self-expression, creativity and giving people a space where they can show up exactly as they are. 

Outside of the salon, Donna is also a youth worker, with a strong passion for working alongside young people and her wider community. Whether sharing advice from the chair, giving encouragement, or simply being there to listen, Donna loves sharing knowledge she’s picked up along the way. She is proud to be part of the Queer Hawk community, where her love of hair, people and all things queer come together. 

Kiro is a Brazilian-Irish entrepreneur and company director. His first pozcast appearance was in 2023 which you can listen to ⁠⁠here⁠⁠. In 2024, he co-founded Queer Hawk, Dublin’s proudly queer hair, barbering and beauty salon. 

Living openly with HIV, Kiro has previously shared his personal story on Poz Vibe. He continues to use his voice to challenge stigma and promote visibility. Through Queer Hawk, he brings those same values into business, championing diversity and creating an inclusive space built around community, creativity and unapologetic queer identity.

Prateek is originally from Baijnath, a small town in India and moved to Ireland in 2021. He has a background in Human Resources and is currently studying International Business.

​Prateek is a HIV activist and has been a proud member of the PozVibe tribe for the past four years. During this time, he has contributed to several meaningful initiatives, including the Out of the Shadows film project and was Festival Manager for the Queer Spectrum Film Festival. 

Ajay Kumar is an up and coming fashion designer new to the Dublin fashion scene. Ajay has been living in Ireland for over 6 years and originally came to the country to pursue a masters degree but fashion is Ajay’s true passion. He is also a HIV activist, proud member of PozVibe Tribe and believes in uplifting each other through any medium possible.

OUR GUESTS:

Kaushik is a student of sociology and an amateur ceramicist, interested in critical race theory, body politics, sculpture and the intersection between them all. They have also worked at a mental health helpline and for homelessness and addiction services. They are an ally of the Poz Vibe Tribe and love supporting members of the community. They are also co-facilitator of the Queer POC support group with QAPI at Outhouse who aim to promote community and give support to individuals from a migrant and asylum background.

Chayan is a technology professional based in Dublin with a passion for music, dance and the arts. They say they love exploring movement and storytelling and the ways they come together through performance.

For this episode we’ve passed the mic to member of the tribe, Luis Noguera Benitez. Luis is an Irish Venezuelan actor, journalist and activist whose campaigning focus is on destroying HIV Stigma. In this episode, Luis talks to Muriel and Saynoara, two Brazilian women living in Ireland.

Muriel is a trans woman and artist who works with fashion and image making and incorporates them both on her gender transition journey. Sayonara is also a transgender woman and has lived in Ireland for the past 5 years. She has worked in the beauty industry for over 20 years and is dedicated to supporting and empowering the Brazilian transgender community in Ireland as a member of the Brazilian Commission. Sayonara shares her knowledge, life experience and professional expertise with newly arrived transgender women. She offers them guidance, encouragement, and practical support and is passionate about fostering inclusion, building confidence, and helping others create a sense of belonging in their new home.

A classic overthinker and ex over achiever, Tailor lives her life trying to figure out how to use her platform for good whilst staying sane and surviving in this crazy world. Thriving with HIV since 2013, Tailor is finally ready to share more of her story with the POZ Vibe tribe.

Mar is the owner of The Studio by Mar Dias, a beauty salon in South Dublin and carries out their social work through hair. Skilled in photo shoots, styling, advertising, film and make-up. Mar is a member of the board at Poz Vibe Tribe , their focus is inclusion and diversity.

Yuri Camargo

Yuri is a queer, Brazilian salon owner from Sāo Paulo and has been living in Dublin for 13 years. He established L.A. Hair in Dublin 3 years ago. The salon is a hub for the Brazilian community and a gateway to new friendships with local clients. L.A. Hair was named to honour Yuri’s friend Levi who sadly passed away due to AIDS related illness. As an ally to Poz Vibe Tribe, Yuri is passionate about educating the queer Brazilian community, destroying stigma and promoting testing.

Robbie and Veda are back in position this week joined by two special guests.

Dr Ralph Hurley O'Dwyer is a public health doctor working for the HSE. Ralph has a background in infectious diseases and global health with a special interest in HIV and minority health. As a gay man, he is passionate about improving LGBTQ+ health and has been involved in queer advocacy both in Ireland and internationally. He leads the CHEMSI study, the first national survey on chemsex in Ireland."

Graham Ryall, Senior Addiction Practitioner, Rialto Community Drug Team, Dublin, has thirty years' experience working within the context of what he refers to as "Substance Use, Addiction & Self-medicating.” Graham says that these are all very different and separate themes. Graham has a M.Sc in Drug & Alcohol Policy and a Degree in Addiction Counselling with the majority of his work over the past eleven years primarily focused upon the Club Drugs, Chems and Chemsex scene.

Veda and Robbie decided to hand the mic to tribe member Luis Noguera Benitez to host the pozcast this week. Luis is an Irish Venezuelan actor, journalist and activist whose focus is fighting HIV stigma. 

His guests this week are Maho and Avatar both from Venezuela. Avatar Guille is originally from Caracas and recently celebrated 10 years living in Ireland. For almost 4 years, Avatar lived in Direct Provision here but has set up a big life here since. Not only has he studied at IADT in Dun Loghaire but he has also performed all over the country including at The Gate Theatre, The Everyman in Cork, Electric Picnic andMother Block Party. 

Maho is a queer journalist and founder of Moh flowers art and design in Dublin. Maho is also a mother and says they care deeply about social and political activism, freedom and democracy.
