Taiwan Pangolins Are Introduced at the Prague Zoo
Taiwan is home to a very special animal.
But very few people get to see it.
This animal is very shy.
It's called the pangolin (穿山甲).
Taiwanese pangolins have short legs and long bodies.
They like to eat ants and termites (白蟻).
They have long strong claws that help them dig for those bugs.
And pangolins are the only mammal to have scales (鱗片) all over its body.
Unfortunately, some people eat pangolins, or use them in traditional medicine
So, there are fewer and fewer of them in most countries.
But, Taiwan's pangolin population is increasing.
This is because of conservation (保育) efforts on the island.
And the Taipei Zoo is famous for rescuing, raising, and releasing the special animals.
So, in 2019 the mayor of Prague, the capital city of the Czech Republic, came to Taiwan.
He asked the Taipei Zoo to donate two pangolins to start a breeding program (繁殖計畫) at the Prague Zoo.
But, because of the pandemic, the animals weren't sent to Prague until April of this year.
The Prague mayor announced an online poll to name the new additions (新成員) to the zoo.
And at the end of the poll, he announced that the winning names were Hugo and Fazolka.
Finally, after 4 weeks, the pangolins made their first appearance to the public at a ceremony.
The Taiwan representative joined the mayor of Prague at the ceremony.
And they cut a ribbon together to officially open the home for the animals to the public.

Google Shows Off Glasses That Can Translate Languages
It can be hard to communicate (溝通) with people from another country.
That is because people from other countries may speak a different language.
But, in the future, communicating may be easier because of technology.
That's what Google is trying to do with their new glasses.
The company showed off a prototype (原型) of the glasses at a conference.
The glasses look like regular eyeglasses people wear to see well.
However, these glasses have a computer inside of them.
And the computer can translate (翻譯) what people say.
A demonstration video shows people speaking in different languages.
The languages include English, Spanish, Mandarin and even American Sign Language
American Sign Language, or ASL, is the language that the deaf in America use to communicate using gestures
To use the glasses, all you have to do is wear them.
And when you see or hear someone talking, you will see the words in the glasses.
And those words will be in your language.
Google says it's like having "subtitles (對白字幕)" for the world.
But some experts warn that language translation is very challenging.
So, we probably won't be able to buy the glasses soon.

iPod Discontinued After 21 Years
Many people use cell phones nowadays.
And some people use iPhones.
It is one of the most popular smartphones in the world.
But before there was the iPhone, there was the iPod.
Apple released the first iPod in 2001.
It could not connect to the internet and it mostly played music.
The user had to upload (上傳) files to the device from their computer.
The iPod became very popular because it was small, easy-to-use, and stylish.
Apple continued to make new and different iPods for many years.
But this month, they announced that they have stopped making them after 21 years.
After hearing the news, many people went on social media to share their stories about owning an iPod.
