  • Episode 11: Flashbacks and Post-Traumatic Situations: The Real Way to Deal With Them!

    Send a text

In this episode of the Project Renew podcast, we discuss the difficulty of flashbacks for traumatized nurses with PTSD. When one is immediately and powerfully reminded of a traumatic incident in any sense, this is called a flashback. They're widespread among people living with PTSD and can have a devastating impact on those affected. The podcast emphasises that flashbacks are a multisensory re-experience of the traumatic incident, not just a remembrance of the events. Recognizing individual flashback triggers and early warning indicators can help you avoid experiencing them in the future. When experiencing a flashback, keeping your attention on something tangible or intensely scented can be helpful. You can lessen your nervousness and obtain supportive, encouraging responses that will help support you out of it if you talk to people, especially fellow nurses.

Remember that you have a lot of support and are a resilient nurse and trauma survivor. Many people can relate to having PTSD and experiencing flashbacks. There are strategies for dealing with and getting through these challenges. The support of loved ones and understanding your unique triggers and warning flags can get you through this. Please don't give up the fight, nurse warrior. Play this episode of Project ReNew now if you're interested in hearing more about PTSD and how to cope with painful flashbacks.

  • Episode 9: Nursing through a Global Pandemic: The Struggles, Triumphs, and Future of the Nursing Profession

    Send a text

The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the nursing profession are discussed in this podcast. It brings attention to the reality that millions of people have died, including over 115,000 nurses around the world. The episode also delves into the unknown future effects of the infection. Problems with mental health, including anxiety, sadness, and post-traumatic stress disorder, are common among nurses.

Despite the widespread respect and admiration shown to nurses throughout the epidemic, neither their salaries nor their working circumstances have improved significantly. In order to help overworked nurses cope with staffing shortages, it has been suggested that more people enter the nursing profession.

The audio concludes with a thought-provoking query: how will nurses relay their memories of the epidemic to the next generation?

The takeaway is that the last chapter has yet to be written and that nurses have control over their own mental health.

  • Episode 6: PTSD & Nursing in the Pandemic

    Send a text

"To combat the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses have been on the front lines, where they have been subjected to daily stress and anguish.

Not only is there a cost in terms of physical health, but the mental cost is also significant.

It's no secret that PTSD is becoming an epidemic in the nursing profession, but that doesn't mean it's the end of the road for those who suffer from it.

This ReNew podcast discusses the issue of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in nursing and provides practical advice for dealing with mental health during difficult times.

We examine the problems nurses face and the solutions they've found, from the aftereffects of prolonged exposure to trauma to the difficulties of inadequate staffing and limited resources.

Nurses may take care of themselves and continue doing an important job with the help of mental health management skills, institutional backing, and a confidential outlet for expressing emotions.

We also discuss whether PTSD is a result of work stress or preexisting risk factors and what can be done to treat it.

'You, the nurses, are the backbone of the medical system, and your efforts improve the quality of life for your patients every day. Can Nurses Suffer from PTSD?
Yes, some nurses may develop post-traumatic stress disorder. Nurses frequently experience mental, emotional, and physical fatigue in the course of their work. Consequently, many nurses have reported enduring post-traumatic stress disorder symptoms such as worry, difficulty focusing, insomnia, and excessive exhaustion. Trauma counsellors can be helpful resources for nurses suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) who are ready to talk about their experiences.
