Our guest, Michael Hope PT, Dip, MDT graduated with a degree in physical therapy from the University of Pittsburgh in 1991.Ā He obtained his undergraduate degree in exercise physiology from West Virginia University in 1988. Michael started working for Summit Physical Therapy in 1995.Ā He then became a co-owner of Summit Physical Therapy in 2002. Michael became certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy in 1991. Additionally, he is a McKenzie Diplomate. Michael has taken many continuing education courses in orthopedics, sports rehabilitation, and surgical rehabilitation.Ā Michael specializes in treating challenging patients that have shoulder, knee, or spine conditions that have previously failed to progress in physical therapy. Michael trained college and professional football players in performance enhancement skills (including West Virginia Mountaineers, the University of Pittsburgh, and the Pittsburgh Steelers).Ā He has treated high school, college, and professional athletes from all over the world. Outside of work, Michael enjoys running and spending time with his family.

Our guest, Prof. Lorimer Moseley DSc PhD FACP is is a Bradley Distinguished Professor in Clinical Neuroscience, Foundation Chair in Physiotherapy and CEO of the not-for-profit Pain Revolution. His main interests are persistent pain and other protective feelings and how to best convey modern scientific understanding of chronic pain and similar conditions to consumers, the general public, and health professionals, in a way that is āstickyā and improves outcomes. He has authored over 400 scientific articles and eight books. His foundational discoveries around āhow pain worksā, communication of those discoveries to diverse audiences, and integration of modern pain science into clinical practice, have been recognised by honours in 15 countries, as well as world peak bodies in several fields. His research has transformed practice in chronic pain care internationally, including UKās National Health Service, USAās Veteransā Affairs and European pain management clinical standards. In 2020, he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia, that countryās second highest civilian honour, for ādistinguished service, to humanity at large, in the fields of pain and its management, science communication, education and physiotherapy.ā Lorimer lives and works on Kaurna Land in Adelaide, South Australia.

Our guest, Dr. Yury Zhidchenko, is a physician and physical therapist with over 20 years of experience. He graduated from St. Petersburg State Medical University in 2000. After completing his medical degree, Yury pursued a Clinical Residency in Family Medicine and Neurology at St. Petersburg and he then worked as an Emergency Room neurologist at St. Petersburg St. Elizabeth Hospital.
From 2005 to 2007, Yury specialized in neurorehabilitation and played a key role in developing the Kinesis Rehabilitation Center, focusing on stroke patients. In 2007, he was invited by the Swiss Association of Paraplegia to discuss the International Classification of Functioning (ICF) in spinal cord injury rehabilitation.
Between 2007 and 2023, Yury conducted over 8,500 home physical therapy sessions for patients with severe central nervous system lesions. From 2017 to 2019, Yury participated in the international SOCRE project, studying and working in Finland, the Netherlands, and Belgium to develop social rehabilitation approaches in Russia. Since December 2022, he has been residing in Serbia.Ā

Our guest Dr Mark Laslett, PhD, NZRPS, Dip.MT, Dip.MDT is a New Zealand Board Registered Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Specialist (NZRPS). He was in continuous musculoskeletal clinical practice 1971-April 2024. He is now retired from clinical practice after 53 years of fullt time practice but continues involvement in research & post graduate teaching. He completed doctoral studies at Linkƶping University, Sweden (2005), based on diagnostic accuracy research with chronic low back patients undergoing interventional spinal diagnostic procedures with the late Dr Charles Aprill MD in New Orleans.Ā
Mark has taught short courses internationally since 1985. Between 1985 and 1998 this was as a senior international instructor for the McKenzie Institute International. He commenced teaching his own upper and lower limb courses internationally in 1993 until 2004. Since then, his teaching has focused on the lumbar spine, pelvis and hip, as well as the general principles of the science of diagnostics. Mark is an honorary life member of the New Zealand Manipulative Physiotherapists Association (NZMPA), Physiotherapy New Zealand, and the Swedish branch of the McKenzie Institute. Mark was the first physiotherapist in New Zealand to be Physiotherapy Board registered as a clinical specialist (musculoskeletal) in 2014.

Ā Carolyn is a physiotherapist, educator, researcher and advocate in the areas of low back pain, pelvic health and pain science.Ā She became an MDT credentialled therapist in 1999. Carolyn holds a CBT certificate from Wilfred University, and has been practicing in the field of pelvic health for the past 25 years.Ā She has been practicing as a physiotherapist for 39 years teaching post-graduate pelvic health courses that are steeped in pain science. Carolyn won the Medal of Distinction from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association in 2021, the distinguished Education Award from the OPA in 2015 and the YWCA Women of Distinction Award in 2004.Ā Carolyn presents extensively at international conferences and has co-authored multiple chapters and papers on central pain mechanisms and pelvic pain.Ā She is actively involved in research with Dr. Sinead Dufour (McMaster University, Canada) and Dr. Judith Thompson (Curtin University, Australia) and has published multiple studies on the connection between low back pain and pelvic floor dysfunction.Ā Carolyn co-owns a multi-disciplinary teaching company called Reframe Rehab and is engaged in breaking down the barriers internationally between pelvic health, orthopaedics and pain science. Carolyn practices locally in the areas of pelvic health and chronic pain at Physio Works Muskoka in Huntsville, Ontario with her daughter/physiotherapist, Brittany Vandyken.

Our guest is Dr. Vikas Agarwal MD, Cert. MDT, FACP. Dr. Vikas is an Internal Medicine physician, also certified in the McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT). He is the first Internal Medicine physician to integrate mechanical concepts of the McKenzie Method into his primary care practice. Dr. Agarwal is a 1994 graduate of King Georgeās Medical College (KGMC) in Lucknow, India. Following four and a half years of medical school, he spent six years as an Internal Medicine Resident, three with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS, New Delhi, 1995-1997), and three with the University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC, 1998-2001). Dr. Agarwal is Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (2001/2011) and became Certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy in 2015. He is a two-time recipient of the Mosaic Life Care Distinguished Physician Recognition Award (2012 & 2014). Dr. Agarwal's goal is to create awareness of the mechanical pain and mechanical causes resulting in many of the human being's ailment. Michael has been awarded the Michigan Physical Therapy Association Outstanding Clinical Instructor Award and the Andrews University Physical Therapy Program Outstanding Teacher Award. Today, he is the Chief of Physical Therapy at Lakeland HealthCare in St. Joseph, MI, in addition to being a senior MAPS instructor. Michael has run over 30 marathons including 13 Boston
