  • Toilet Radio 217: Watain Sucks, Yo-Yo Ma Fucks
Happy Thanksgiving you big nerds. Me and Jordon are hella sick but we still strapped up our boots, grabbed our lunchpails, and brought you an hour of dynamite podcasting entertainment so you can better ignore your family tomorrow. We're talkin' turkey. By which I mean Thanksgiving! It's kinda whatever. We're talkin' about Pelle Forsberg from Watain getting locked up by border patrol and banned from entering the country. It will shock you to learn that we have a lot of thoughts around CBP, ICE, shady black metal bands, and the interaction between them all. Related, we're learning about the legality of consuming road kill. It varies state by state. We're talking about Abbath possibly needing to cut out the booze after a disastrous performance. Finally, we're talking about Motley Crue BREAKING THE LAW by touring again. Quit rewarding bands for doing farewell tours please. Also, we talk about Yo-Yo Ma for reasons that I don't fully recall. It's a good one, folks.

Oh, and don't forget to send us Xmas presidents.

  • Toilet Radio 216: GWAR is back! In comic book form!
And now, a show in two parts. PART ONE: the good boys are talkin': Nuclear War Now! Forum, RIP! NWN! / Spoilers for movies that dropped 30 years ago / We, as a culture, have not bullied Nergal enough. PART TWO: I'm chatting with comic artist Jeff Martin! We discuss his latest work on GWAR: The Enormogantic Fail, a graphic novel best described as Rashomon but incredibly dumb. We're talking about his work on the project, the problems with comic distribution, how to DIY a career in art, getting grants from the Canadian government, a fun game of compare/contrast with American vs Canadian politics, and the awful banality of having to work a damn job. Pick up the new GWAR comic, go follow Jeff on Twitter, and then go read Jeff's webcomics like Hell Inc, Heat: The Space Age of Pro Wrestling, and Rent-A-Thug. It's a good one, folks. Interview starts at 29:42.

  • Toilet Radio 212: The October Spooktacular Presents MANBORG
Happy October, nerds. To honor this, our spookiest month, we’re gonna be checking out a unique horror film every week. This week we're joined by our good buddy Robin from Drunk in a Graveyard! She chose an early work from the spectacular Astron 6 team. From the folks that brought you Father's Day and The Void, we've got action/horror/comedy MANBORG. Join us for a tale as old as time, the armies of HELL have destroyed humanity and the only crew that can save us is a team of fighting game characters and a half man/half child manborg. We're enjoying an hour-long Playstation 1 Full-Motion-Video made to pay tribute to the forgotten gems of the 80s VHS action aisle. We're also talkin' aboot Canada cuisine, Canadian politics, putting on Canadian film events, and all kinds of other spooky Canadian shit. I had a great time recording this one so I hope you have a good time listening to it.

  • Toilet Radio 211: The October Spooktacular Presents The Gate
Happy October, nerds. To honor this, our spookiest month, we’re gonna be checking out a unique horror film every week. This week we’re joined by our old pal Metal.txt. He had me watch a movie that terrified him as a tiny lil .txt, 1987 horror movie for kids, The Gate! It's a tale about kids opening up a gate to the Great Old Ones using the power of heavy metal and a shit ton of eyeball gore. We're talking about Stephen Dorff's first role as 9-year-old Glenn, trying to figure out what happened to his co-star to make him leave acting and change his name to a series of numbers, and getting traumatized over practical effects and egregious uses of a dead dog. What happened to making scary movies specifically for children? If The Gate is any indication, they were WAY TOO GRAPHIC. Join us for the warm feelings of nostalgia, stick around for all questions you had about Merzbow but were afraid to ask.
