  • 388. What Is Stress & What Can We Do About It?

Stress can manifest itself in different ways in our lives. What is stress, and what can we do to keep it under control?

Our ancient ancestors had similar physical and anatomical characteristics and they experienced stress in a similar way. However, stress for them was a rare occurrence brought on by life-or-death situations. In our modern society, we are under constant pressures. Our bodies and minds are so overstimulated, they’re unable to tell the difference between near-death experiences and the occurrences of day-to-day life. As a society, we’re starting to feel the effects of that accumulation of stress. Let’s talk about how to manage it for your short and long term benefit.

Nature has so much to teach us. Nature is patient, in-tune, and relentlessly consistent. It is beautiful, calming, and nurturing. So, how do we practice these principles in our own lives?

As usual, we have an acronym for nature to help you recognize what you can learn from it:

    • Noticing
    • Adaptability
    • Timing and consistency
    • Understanding that we are small… and yet we matter
    • Radiate

Showing accountability extends beyond just saying sorry for your mistakes. We have to show vulnerability and acknowledge those mistakes, as well as our willingness to grow from them.
