Remi Idowu: What happened when a random guy on a train, asked her for the time...

Listen Later

Remi Idowu is a self-taught Chef, Baker, and Content Creator who turned her love for her West African heritage and a passion for cooking, into a thriving brand. Her online platform @FoodbyRemi, is where she shares flavour-packed yet approachable recipes with the goal of teaching her vibrant community of more than 1 million people that cooking is an accessible skill. Remi is listed by Forbes 30 Under 30 for Art & Culture and has been shortlisted for Fortnum & Mason's Content Creator Of The Year 2025. She has just released her first cookbook, 'Sugar & Spice' that delivers flavour-packed sweet and savoury recipes to give your dinners a glow up, with simple tricks and hero ingredients for maximum joy and minimal effort.

In this episode Remi chats all about the amazing journey she has been on from starting a small online business at the age of 19, to releasing her first ever cook book! Remi is a true inspiration of someone who has grown her passion and love into a business and is the definition of ‘do what you love.' We delve into how things in her life felt meant to be, and how as a religious person she does believe that when things don’t happen for you, they’re not meant for you. Her three Sliding Doors Moments include: being fire from her job that was the catalyst to start her baking business full time, meeting her fiancé on a train when he asked her for the time (the true essence and definition of an SD Moment!!) and her decision to live by herself.
