  • Ep.12 The secret to a successful romantic relationship w/Hedy Schleifer

How can we build authentic, satisfying and strong connections with our partners? What are the main ‘invisible’ connectors in our relationships? What is a ‘survival dance’ and how can it sabotage romantic success? Why will you fall in love with someone you are incompatible with? Why won’t compromise work?

My guest this week is internationally- renowned relationship builder and motivational speaker Hedy Schleifer, a 77 year old woman with decades of professional experience and over 56 years of personal experience in her marriage, or ‘living laboratory’ as she calls it, with her husband Yumi. The founder of the Encounter-centered Couples Transformation Approach® (EcCT), Hedy speaks 7 languages and has taught and guided couples as well as mental health professionals, coaches and executives on the art of connection and relational intelligence across 39 countries worldwide.

On this episode she shares much of her wisdom with a radiant joy that will not fail to put a smile on your face.

  • Ep.11 Spiritual retreat reflections on: healing, joy, vulnerability, defence mechanisms & letting go

Have you ever wondered what a spiritual retreat entails and think you may like to do something similar to accelerate your healing and self-development work? This was hands down THE best work I have ever done in this space and I’m sharing some of the insights, wisdom gained, lessons learned on the topics of healing, joy, vulnerability, jealousy, letting go/surrender and defence mechanisms.

I encourage you to dare to explore your defence mechanisms and what lies beneath them, to surrender and let go wherever you can, to reframe your jealousy into something positive, to truly know that there is power in vulnerability and to unabashedly follow your joy! Some of this may pleasantly surprise you.

For anyone who is curious about where I did the retreat itself, you can find more information here. The retreat is called "Presence à soi" (French-based)

  • Ep.10 Is consciousness the gateway to happiness? w/ my partner David Perroud

What is consciousness and why does it matter? Could it be a gateway to individual and collective happiness? What is success and what place do financial metrics occupy within that? What values should we espouse in our society, our companies and our own personal lives?

These are some of the questions I explore with my guest, my partner in love and life, David Perroud.

David holds a Masters of Business Administration from the Simon Business School in New York,  and he has spent a large part of his career as the co-founder and CEO of an international market research company. But while he was a successful businessman, he had a deep curiosity and interest in finding answers to what he perceives to be some of life’s biggest questions: What is the universe? Who are we? What is the purpose of our existence?

That took him on a journey across scientific fields such as cosmology, astrology, life sciences, neuroscience and quantum physics. A unifying theme, he learnt, was that of consciousness in which he became an expert and made a huge pivot from market research into becoming a full time author. He is the author of 4 novels for which he has received much acclaim across Francophone countries and from some of the biggest names in science, including Ervin Laszlo, twice nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize.

  • Ep.8 How to AVOID choosing “The WRONG One” (and what to do IF you have!) w/Megan Hunter

You should DEFINITELY  swipe left on these people! (Even if there is a temptation to swipe right). These are the types of people who should come with a warning sign: high conflict personalities - narcissists, sociopaths, psychopaths, borderlines, histrionics, paranoids… They often present with an abundance of charm in the early days… but those ‘high highs’ usually lead to ‘low lows’.

In this episode with high conflict expert Megan Hunter, co-founder and CEO of the High Conflict Institute, we discuss:

    • What are high conflict personalities?
    • What is really so bad about being in a relationship with one of them?
    • What are the warning signs?
    • What are our ‘blind spots’ that make us susceptible?
    • How can we leave safely (once we discover the reality)?

    And a lot more!

Maybe this isn’t the sexiest of conversations, but it’s certainly one that will equip you with a keen eye for what could become problematic down the track for one of THE most important decisions we will make in our lives: who to partner up with! As Megan says: “If hindsight is 20/20 vision, Dating Radar is x-ray vision”.

  • Ep.6 Anesthesiologist on trauma, shame and PTSD w/ Dr Heather Abernethy

While Dr Heather Abernethy’s main day job as an anesthesiologist is to numb people’s pain, her own journey with PTSD after an unhealthy relationship forced her to confront her own, at a time she too wished she could be out cold, numb, asleep… Through her own healing journey she is now passionate about discussing and destigmatising trauma and shame, as well as equipping her clients with the tools to release their stored trauma and feel safe in their bodies.

In this episode we do a deep dive into trauma and shame - what is it? How can we recognise it? Is it stored in our bodies? How do we heal it? What do we do to try and ignore its existence? How can we help someone we know who is struggling?

A snippet of my favourite quotes:

    • “No one ever thanked me for giving them 150 milligrams of propofol… It was always thank you for listening to me. And I realized how important that is for healing and that's what we all need: attunement”
    • “If we notice our suffering when we are suffering, our suffering will diminish. Awareness is healing”
    • “You cannot metabolise someone else’s pain for them. You can hold space for them. You can sit with them. You can guide them, but only they can heal what is inside”

  • Ep.5 Effective leadership, elevating consciousness and a new narrative for society w/ Guibert del Marmol

Belgian economist Guibert del Marmol was young, bright, ambitious and on track to become highly successful in the economic world until he was sidelined by a devastating diagnosis: a brain tumour which doctors said would likely take his life within three months. This was 1994 and he is here with us today to tell his starting over story. Instead of killing him, this ordeal marked the beginning of a new life, a radical personal transformation that would completely change him, not only as a man, a husband, a friend, but also as a business executive and  an entrepreneur.

In today’s episode we discuss Guibert’s holistic healing journey, from conventional medicine to epigenetics to integrative and even quantum medicine. Guibert also shares with us his vision of a new society: one which upholds the common good, gives access to dignity for all, and has an astute awareness of the interdependence between all things: us, nature and the cosmos.

Here is a snippet of some of my favourite quotes:

    • “I’m not a religious guy because I’m not comfortable with dogmas, but I do believe there is an intelligence in the universe, and the more that I’m looking at science, the more I’m convinced that there is a consciousness”

    • “The reason why your company exists, it’s much more than profitability, it’s to create shared abundance between all the stakeholders while respecting humans and the environment”

    • “We have a huge lack of enlightened leadership in our world because the majority of CEOs are only focusing on profitability and finance; if you want to change an organisation, first, you have to change the mindset of the people who ARE the organisation”

  • Ep.4 How are your New Year's resolutions going? Staying on track w/ Kierra Asnauskas

Did you make a New Year's Resolution this year and feel a little off track? Well if so, you’d perhaps be relieved to know that you’d be among the other 80% who are feeling this way at the end of January…
Today’s guest, productivity coach Kierra Asnauskas, says that most failure is rooted in the lack of intention and strong ‘why’. And that in order to achieve lasting success, we all need  “a why that is strong enough to weather the struggles of the how” .

In today’s episode we discuss strategic goal-setting, consistency, discipline, staying on track and what to do when you fall off the bandwagon (clue: self-compassion AND a kick up the arse are both necessary!).  You’ll also hear Kierra’s own story dealing with financial difficulties, mental health issues and “pivoting” many a time to find her passion and purpose in life.

  • Ep.3 Slow living, holistic healthcare and conscious consumption w/ Madeleine Wisecup

“We all desire to do good for ourselves, our people and our planet, but it all starts with feeling good” says Madeleine Wisecup, today’s guest, who shares her starting over story of being diagnosed with a potentially cancerous auto-immune condition and suffering a miscarriage which led to a significant personal transformation. One in which she radically changed her life: her profession, her city of residence and particularly her consumption habits: what she was putting in and on her body. Story short, she healed. And she is here to share her story and suggestions for a healthier, happier self and a healthier, happy world.

Should we use teflon products? How can we reduce our plastic consumption? What should we do with our e-waste? What practices can we adopt to centre and ground ourselves? What is slow living? What is yuka? You’ll find some answers to these questions and more in this episode.
