If you haven't seen 1991's 'Nothing But Trouble,' you are one of the lucky ones (just kidding - watch this insanity!). This is truly one of the most mystifying, baffling moviegoing experiences - and it essentially killed Dan Aykroyd's career. Yes, it's that bad. But if you're a Chevy Chase, John Candy, or Aykroyd completist, it's essential viewing. And who doesn't love goofing on a bad movie, anyway? Follow us on Twitter/Instagram at @revengeof90spod.
Welcome to Earth! Obviously you love 1996's 'Independence Day' (it's scientifically impossible not to), but you may not realize just how much of an impact this movie has had on the modern blockbuster. An epic sci-fi adventure that pushed the use of CGI to new heights and helped make Will Smith a box-office star, it's time to revisit this '90s classic. And when you're done with that, be sure to follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @revengeof90spod
How in the world were the Brady Bunch movies this good? And how in the world is the second movie even better than the first?! The '90s features a ton of great comedies, and 'A Very Brady Sequel' is one of the best, and it would ultimately inspire one of the internet's favorite memes. It is scientifically impossible to not like this movie. Amazing CGI that holds up to this day, Bill Paxton at the top of his game, a tremendous score, terrifying tornadoes - 'Twister' has it all. And now you can revisit it in our latest episode! When you're done with the episode and reeling for more, follow us on Twitter and Instagram @revengeof90spod.
We're finally dipping our toes into the water of 1999, as we revisit Drew Barrymore's 'Never Been Kissed.' An incredibly bizarre premise, coupled with some truly weird character choices, makes this movie, uh, different than we remembered. Follow us on Twitter: @revengeof90spod.
Sure, we've talked about a lot of movies on this podcast, but this is a true film. A piece of cinematic perfection. We are, of course, talking about 1995's action-thriller 'Sudden Death,' starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. Come for the great action set pieces, stay for the scene where he beats the hell out of the Pittsburgh Penguins' mascot!
Believe us when we say Kurt Russell had a better '90s than people typically give him credit for. 'Breakdown' is one of those hidden gems from the decade, featuring Russell trying to track down his missing wife. This 1997 mystery/thriller hits in all the right places.
Apollo 13' is one of the best movies of the '90s featuring possibly the best cast of all time. How can you go wrong with Tom Hanks, Bill Paxton, Kevin Bacon, Gary Sinise and Ed Harris? YOU CAN'T. Right in the middle of Tom Hanks' magical run, this remains one of the best movies ever made about NASA and the space program. Best of all, Houston, we've got ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES OF '90S.
In 1995, the James Bond franchise went in a new, modern direction with 'GoldenEye,' which served as the first - and best - of Pierce Brosnan's four movies as everyone's favorite secret agent. This one really had it all - a great Bond, a great theme, an insane (and insanely named) villain - and it SHOULD be in your top ten of the best Bond movies of all time.
We might be living in the golden age of superhero movies now, but the '90s were... not that. However, while the big-name heroes weren't often on the big screen, plenty of smaller ones were, and that includes The Shadow, a hero with an absolutely insane backstory. For a superhero movie from 1994, 'The Shadow' does a lot of things well, especially in the effects department, and Alec Baldwin is great in it. Dig in!
