In this episode we are discussing the ins and outs of downsizing. As we pulled over to wait out a massive wind storm for 6 hours, we decided to pull out our podcasting tools and chat with you all about how we went about downsizing to RV living. 

Little did we know it, but we've been slowly downsizing for the past 8 years. We went from a 3500 sq/ft, 2 story, 3 bedroom home with a massive yard and attached garage to a 1300 sq/ft 2 bedroom 1st floor condo. To then a 1100 sq/ft 2 bedroom apartment down to a 750 sq/ft 1 bedroom apartment. Now, we live in our RV which is less than 350 sq/ft and it's more useful space and homier than any of the previous large homes we've lived in! 

The trick? Realizing that the stuff we own, is ONLY stuff. All of it can be replaced. Do you really use those items that sit in a box in the attic or garage that never get used? Our rule, if it didn't have 2 or more uses, then we didn't keep it. 

People have said that downsizing can be one of the most freeing things you can experience, and it's true! You wont be tied to items. We are ultimately on this earth to experience life and see the world and that's what we kept in our minds as we sold off and threw away many items. 

It's easier than you think, and we are going to share how we did it.

In the very first episode since starting the full time RV lifestyle, Dave & Corian discuss how the search for the new truck lead them to purchasing a 2013 Chevrolet 2500HD with a Duramax Diesel engine. 

Searching high and low and testing a Dodge Ram and a Ford F350 ultimately we landed the Chevrolet! The current truck market was not in our favor, but doing some digging and research allowed us to find the right truck for the job, without over paying! 

We also discuss why we chose to go full time in the RV lifestyle rather than just moving to a new state. The decision may surprise you!

In our first episode, we embark on the new RV lifestyle. We discuss how we decided to go full time in the RV life instead of just moving and renting somewhere.  Our first step, finding the RV! 

We discuss our process that we went through as went to RV and camping shows. Extensive YouTube video tours. Facebook groups. Numerous reviews and specs. And each time, lead us to a Grand Design RV. 

Next, once we knew we wanted to purchase a Grand Design RV, came what floorplan we wanted. We came up with 5 different layouts we loved and were ok living in. Then, the final piece, was the availability!

We Sold The Gym! Meet The New Owners

If you've been following our journey for the past 7 years, we've gone through many highs and many, many lows! But that's just the never ending roller coaster of life, and the life of an entrepreneur right??!! 

Corian and I reflect on the past 7 years on what ultimately lead us to this decision. The bottom line; the time is right. 

As we end the chapter on this part of our life, we introduce you to the new owners, Frank & Nora and share their story of fitness with you all.

We have a lot to be thankful for with CrossFit... Yes, CrossFit saved out life! It allowed us to leave dead end jobs that we were miserable with and open our own gym. We met some amazing and some not so amazing people because of CrossFit. We even had many sleepless nights, and  many restful nights. We've been afforded the ability to make changes in many people's lives and many have kicked us in the gut! 

With all of that, we will always be thankful for CrossFit... But, there comes a time when the direction of a company no longer align with the values and beliefs you now have. Over the past year, CrossFit has made many changes. These changes have allowed us to re-evaluate where we stand and if we want to affiliate and support a company that we no longer align with. 

The difficult decision to no longer affiliate with CrossFit was a tough and difficult decision... but Dave & Corian discuss why they ultimately chose to no longer affiliate the gym as a "CrossFit" gym.

So this past weekend was our regularly scheduled recording date... However, Coach Corian and I decided to get away for a much needed weekend get away to reconnect with nature so we traveled to the Great Smokey mountains in Tennessee and remained unplugged! 

That's where the inspiration for replaying this episode came in! In episode 63, Corian and I chat about living in the moment, and taking a few moments to sit back and recognize; where you are currently, and being grateful for the small things in life.

So You Want To Be Competitive? Let's Explore that...

There comes a point in some athlete's journeys in which they think they want to become "Competitive". Competition can be fun, and it can drive us to be better... But, there is also the ugly side of competition that no one understands and it takes extreme discipline!
Is your nutrition dialed in where you are on point with fueling your body for the activity levels and recovery? Are you sleeping enough?
Most people think to be competitive just means: "Workout more" and this couldn't be furthest from the truth... From a competitive standpoint, yes, in order to be good, you'll need to workout more than just the 1 hour of class per day. But, your extra curricular work should be focused on weaknesses and things you need to improve upon, not just sheer volume.
Lastly, in order to get where you need to be, and to focus on your strengths and weaknesses and your nutrition, you should have a team around you. There are a lot of online coaches out there. Some are great, some are good, and some you need to avoid! We are going to tell you what some traits are in a remote coach that you need to avoid!
