One of the biggest issues I see right now in the evidence based health and fitness coaching space is the overemphasis of cherry-picking studies to prove your opinion right over actually helping people. Can these studies be helpful? Sure, but is it the only thing in coaching? Absolutely not. I'll explain why a focus on implementation and application far exceeds mere theory and why I think this is a big problem. Topics include:
- One Of The Biggest Oversights In Functional Health
- My Youtube Channel
- Helping People Over Citing Studies
- Irony Of Being The “Science” Guy
- Integration and Application
- Following The Science Means Still Being Wrong Sometimes

In both clients and coaches, there's a hidden truth that we must all be aware of if we want to make continuous progress towards the things we want in life. That truth… is truth. In this episode, I'm going to explain this concept through a motivational interviewing lens called creating contrast and why this is so important for you to understand. Topics include:
- Lacking Honesty and Self-Awareness
- Admitting We Need To Make A Change

Celebrating our 700th episode on the podcast, I wanted to share my story and how Sam Miller Science came to be and evolved to what it is now. It wasn't long ago I was wiping down gym equipment and doing in-person training sessions back to back at my college campus rec center. So much has happened for me since finding a passion for health and fitness but turning it into a sustainable career took a lot of trial and error, reinvention, mentorship, and a lot of repetitive tasks. If you have similar ambitions for your career, I hope my story inspires you to keep going when it gets tough! Topics include:
- My Teenage Years
- Magazines and Online Forums
- Understanding Labs and More Complex Cases
- Grassroots and Community Early On
- Starting The Podcast In 2019
