Skylines across Australia have lit up with tonnes of fireworks as people across the nation ushered in 2019.
The Sydney Harbor Bridge was again at the forefront of Australia's New Years Eve celebrations.
The fireworks display, which cost $5.8 million dollars to produce this year, is estimated to be worth $133 million to the local economy each year.
People flocked to spots around the harbour, hours in advance, to try and find a good viewing spot.
Some secured their spots especially early, despite high temperatures the night before.

Изложбата која чинеше 5,8 милиони долари, според проценките, носи вредност од 133 милиони долари за локалната економија. Луѓето се собраа на места околу пристаништето, неколку часа однапред, за да се обидат да најдат добро место за гледање. Traditionally, before the new year, politicians send a video message with greetings to the citizens.
This year's greetings by government representatives and the opposition contain diametrically opposed messages and views.

“Australia with its splendid wildlife, unique plant species, animals and colours is a fascinating subject for a photographer such as myself. It is something I hadn't experienced before despite the fact I have travelled to nearly all other continents”, says Vladimir Plavevski, the well-known Macedonian author, who is currently visiting Down Under. His fascination with Australia is conveyed through the photo essays he has been creating, while exploring Western Australia. In an interview for SBS Macedonian, Plavevski who is a retired Ear, Nose and Throat doctor, discusses his significant achievements in both Macedonian Literature and Photography.

He is also well-know and established within the independent circus industry as well as in Sydney's cabaret stage. What is less-known is his ties to Macedonia, where he was born and lived until the age of two. Despite the fact that in the meantime he has lived in Israel, USA and Australia, he preserved his fluent Macedonian language, which he learned from his mother.

The problem with the Macedonian-Bulgarian Historians Committee established with the Friendship Treaty between the two countries, is not the conclusions that may be reached, but the fact that Bulgaria will not abide by them, due to the asymmetrical positions of the both countries, says Dr Stojko Stojkov, from the Macedonian minority party in Bulgaria OMO Ilinden Pirin. Kokino, dating back to 1800 BC, is both an ancient archaeological site and prehistorical observatory. It is one of the five oldest such locations in the world. This amazing place draws the most attention among tourists visiting Macedonia.This tourist attraction is just one small segment of Macedonian cultural heritage, which encompasses artefacts and remnants from different historic times, starting from Bronze Age, trough the Ancient and Roman period, up to the Byzantine and Ottoman Period. However only as little as 2% of Macedonian cultural heritage is employed in the tourist promotion of the country, says Vasilka Dimitrovska, an archaeologist who has been guiding tourists across Macedonia for 20 years now.
