Karpahavalli Carnatic Music Organisation (‘KV’) was founded in 2007, as an independent organisation that focuses solely on the beautiful art of Carnatic music. Based in Sydney, run by students for students of Carnatic music in Australia. 

This is the fifth year, KV has organised Vaggeya Vaibhavam, a forum to celebrate Carnatic music composers and their compositions.  A. S Murali is one of the three artists who have come from Tamil Nadu, India to participate.

For five generations, Carnatic music has been a way of life for A. S Murali and his family.  He talks to Kulasegaram Sanchayan about his family and his interest in music.

It was T R Sundaresan’s father who encouraged him to become a professional musician.  Now, T R Sundaresan helps students across the globe to become talented musicians with the use of technology.  T R Sundaresan talks to Kulasegaram Sanchayan all about it.

Leading Tamil scholar and orator Silamboli S. Chellappan passed away last month. His discourses on the Tamil epic Silapathikaram were popular. He has written several books, including Silamboli, Silapathikara Sinthanaigal, Sanga Ilakiya Thaen and Manimegalai Thelivurai . His discourse on ‘Ravanakaaviyam’ at the Periyar Library Readers Circle is still popular. He got awards from the State government and the Tamil fora in recognition of his contribution to Tamil literature and language.  Silamboli S. Chellappan spoke to RaySel in 2012 prior to his visit to “Thamil Osai” event in Sydney. 

சிலப்பதிகாரத்தை பட்டி தொட்டியெங்கும் பரப்பிய சிலம்பொலி செல்லப்பன் சமீபத்தில் காலமானார். முதுபெரும் தமிழறிஞரும் தமிழாராய்ச்சி நிறுவனத்தின் தலைவருமான  சிலம்பொலி செல்லப்பன் அவர்கள் தலைசிறந்த சொற்பொழிவாளர், சிறந்த எழுத்தாளர் என்று பன்முகங்கள் கொண்டவர். 60 ஆண்டுகளுக்கு மேலாக சிலப்பதிகாரத்தை பட்டி தொட்டி எங்கும் பரப்பியவர் சிலம்பொலி, பெருங்கதை ஆராய்ச்சி, சங்க இலக்கிய தேன் உள்பட பல நூல்களை எழுதியவர். ஆயிரத்துக்கு மேற்பட்ட ஆய்வு கட்டுரைகளை எழுதியுள்ளார். “தமிழ் ஓசை” 2012 ஆம் ஆண்டு நடத்திய சிலப்பதிகார விழா தொடர்பாக சிலம்பொலி செல்லப்பன் அவர்கள் SBS – தமிழ் ஒலிபரப்புக்கு வழங்கிய நேர்முகம். நேர்முகம் கண்டவர்: றைசெல்.
