“Panaimarakkādu” is a full-length feature film entirely produced in the war-torn Northern part of Sri Lanka.  Navaratnam Kesavarajah, the director of the movie, “Panaimarakkādu”, talks to Kulasegaram Sanchayan about the movie and his experience in making it.

A rise in the number of people renting in Australia over the past two decades has triggered calls for changes to laws to better protect tenants. Victoria is the latest jurisdiction to amend its laws, with changes due to take effect in 2020.

தீபாவளி பண்டிகையையொட்டி, இரவில் 2 மணி நேரம் மட்டுமே பட்டாசு வெடிக்க உச்சநீதிமன்றம் அனுமதி அளித்துள்ளது. உச்சநீதிமன்றத்தின் தீர்ப்பு . காற்று மாசு அதிகரித்து வருவதால் அதனை கட்டுப்படுத்த, பட்டாசு உற்பத்தி மற்றும் விற்பனைக்கு நாடு முழுவதும் தடை விதிக்கக் கோரி உச்சநீதிமன்றத்தில் வழக்கு தொடரப்பட்டது. இந்த வழக்கை விசாரித்த நீதிபதிகள், ஒட்டுமொத்தமாக நாடு முழுவதும் பட்டாசு விற்பனை மற்றும் உற்பத்திக்கு தடை விதிக்க மறுத்துவிட்டனர். ஆனாலும் பல்வேறு கடுமையான நிபந்தனைகளை விதித்து உள்ளனர் நீதிபதிகள். தீபாவளி அன்று இரவு 8 மணி முதல் 10 மணி வரை மட்டுமே பட்டாசுகளை வெடிக்க வேண்டும் என தீர்ப்பளிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

Frederick Cossom Hollows was a New Zealand-Australian ophthalmologist who became known for his work in restoring eyesight for countless thousands of people in Australia and many other countries. It has been estimated that more than one million people in the world can see today because of initiatives instigated by Hollows, the most notable example being The Fred Hollows Foundation. S. V. Rajadurai is a well-known Tamil writer and translator who has long been involved with the radical Left. He has also been, and continues to be, active in the Civil Liberties Movement.  In this final part of the three-part interview with Kulasegaram Sanchayan, S. V. Rajadurai talks about his stint as an academic, and the political situation in India.

எஸ். வி. ராஜதுரை (S. V. Rajadurai) தமிழ்நாட்டைச் சேர்ந்த ஒரு மார்க்சிய சிந்தனையாளரும், எழுத்தாளரும் ஆவார். மார்க்சியம், பெரியாரியம், அம்பேத்கரியம் தமிழக அரசியல் பற்றிய பல நூல்களையும் கட்டுரைகளையும் தமிழிலும் ஆங்கிலத்திலும் எழுதியுள்ளார். இவர் சிறுகதைகளையும் கவிதைகளையும் தமிழாக்கம் செய்துள்ளார்.  ஏறத்தாழ கால் நூற்றாண்டு காலம் மனித உரிமை இயக்கத்தில் களப்பணி பணியாளராக செயலாற்றிய எஸ். வி. ராஜதுரை அவர்கள் ஒரு நீண்ட நேர்காணலை எமக்கு வழங்கியுள்ளார்.

மூன்று பாகங்களாகப் பதிவாகியுள்ள நேர்காணலின் இறுதிப் பாகத்தில், ஒரு கல்வியாளராக தான் பெற்ற அநுபவங்கள், சாதீய முறைகள் குறித்த கருத்துகள், தற்போதைய இந்திய அரசியல், மற்றும் தமிழ் மொழி அகராதிகள் போன்ற பல விடயங்கள் குறித்து மனம் திறந்து பேசுகிறார்.
