Muththukkoothan Kalaivanan is an artist of puppetry.  For many years, Kalaivanan has spread social awareness through puppetry, not only in Tamil Nadu but throughout the world. Kulasegaram Sanchayan talks to Kalaivanan about his passions.

முத்துக்கூத்தன் கலைவாணன் ஒரு பொம்மலாட்டக் கலைஞர்.  பொம்மலாட்டக்கலையில் பல வருடங்களாக தமிழகம் மட்டுமல்ல உலகின் பல பாகங்களிலும் அறிவு சார் கருத்துகளைப் பரப்பி வருபவர்.  அவரது கலை குறித்தும் அவரது சிந்தனைகள் குறித்தும் தொலைபேசி வழியாக உரையாடுகிறார் குலசேகரம் சஞ்சயன்.

Emerging technologies and Australians' growing disinterest in traditional media has many news organisations scrambling for relevance.

But how will this trend, and recent changes to the way Australia governs its media, affect the industry -- and its consumers -- in the future?

Professor Barry James Marshall is an Australian doctor who won the 2015 Nobel Prize in Medicine. He proved that stress wasn't responsible for causing stomach ulcers in millions of people worldwide, as was commonly believed, but instead, it was caused by a bacteria called Helicobacter pylori. The scientific community didn't believe and to prove the finding, Dr Barry Marshall experimented on himself. It was a historic event in the field of medicine that not only detected the helicopterator pylori, responsible for the stomach ulcer but also detected the stomach ulceration. Today, stomach ulcers are treated with simple antibiotics. He shared this prize with Dr J Robin Warren.

மருத்துவதுறையில் 2005-ம் ஆண்டு நோபல் பரிசினை வென்ற பேராசிரியர் பேரி ஜேம்ஸ் மார்ஷல் ஒரு ஆஸ்திரேலிய மருத்துவர் ஆவார். மன அழுத்தம், காரமான உணவுகள் மற்றும் அதிக அமிலத்தன்மை ஆகியவற்றால் வயிற்று புண் உருவாகிறது என்று நம்பப்பட்டு வந்த காலத்தில், அல்சர் எனப்படும் வயிற்று புண்ணுக்கு காரணமான  ஹெலிகோபாக்டர் பைலோரி என்ற  நுண்ணுயிரியை கண்டு பிடித்தது மட்டுமின்றி, அதை எதிர்த்து வயிற்று புண்ணை குணமாக்கும் மருந்தினையும் கண்டுபிடித்தார்.  இது மருத்துவ துறையில் ஒரு வரலாற்று முக்கியத்துவமான நிகழ்வு ஆகும். தனது கண்டுபிடிப்பை உலகிற்கு நிரூபிக்க மருத்துவர் பேரி மார்ஷல், தன்னையே பரிசோதனைக்கு உட்படுத்தியது அதிர்ச்சி தரும் உண்மை.  2005-ம் ஆண்டின் மருத்துவ துறை சார்ந்த நோபல் பரிசினை இவர் மருத்துவர் டாக்டர் ராபின் வாரன் அவர்களுடன் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார்.  பேரி மார்ஷல் இவர் சந்தித்த வேதனைகளையும், பின்னர் அது சாதனையாக மலர்ந்த நிகழ்வுகளையும் “நம்ம ஆஸ்திரேலியா” நிகழ்ச்சி மூலம் முன்வைக்கிறார்  4EB தமிழ் ஒலிபரப்பின் ரமாதேவி தனசேகர் அவர்கள். 

Dr. J Emerson Raja, a senior lecturer in Multimedia University, Malaysia, specialised in Machine Condition Monitoring, monitoring the health of the machines using artificial neural network (ANN).  However, he started searching for effectively monitoring the human health for finding solution to the diabetic illness of his father. In the process, he collected so many tips on human health and became specialist in health related topics. Dr. J Emerson Raja who visited Sydney recently spoke to RaySel.

The Nobel Prize is a set of annual international awards bestowed in several categories by Swedish and Norwegian institutions in recognition of academic, cultural, or scientific advances.
