This year's ((2018)) Nobel Peace Prize has been jointly awarded to a Congolese doctor and a Yazidi human rights activist. The Norwegian Nobel Committee says it has awarded Nadia Murad and Denis Mukwege the prize for their efforts to end the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war. The announcement has been widely welcomed by many, who say the pair have both worked hard to help women and to give them a voice.

2018 ஆம் ஆண்டின் அமைதிக்கான நோபல் பரிசு பாலியல் வன்கொடுமைக்கு எதிரான மனித உரிமை ஆர்வலர்களுக்கு தரப்படுகிறது. காங்கோவை சேர்ந்த மருத்துவர் டெனிஸ் முக்வேஜாவும், இராக்கைச் சேர்ந்த மனித உரிமை ஆர்வலரான  நாடியா முராத்தும் பெறுகின்றனர். யார் இவர்கள்?

இந்தியாவில் டிசம்பர் 15ஆம் தேதிக்குள் மத்திய பிரதேசம், சத்தீஸ்கர், மிசோரம், தெலங்கானா மற்றும் ராஜஸ்தான் ஆகிய ஐந்து மாநிலங்களின் சட்டசபை தேர்தல் நடத்தி முடிக்கப்படும் என தலைமை தேர்தல் ஆணையர் ஓ.பி.ராவத் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். ஆனால் காலியாக உள்ள திருவாரூர் மற்றும் திருப்பரங்குன்றம் தொகுதிகளில் இடைத்தேர்தல் குறித்த எந்த அறிவிப்பையும் தேர்தல் ஆணையம் வெளியிடவில்லை. இது குறித்த விவரணம் ஒன்றை முன்வைக்கிறார் நமது தமிழக செய்தியாளர் ராஜ்.

Christmas Island is an Australian territory in the Indian Ocean, lying south of Java, Indonesia. Native wildlife includes nesting seabirds and the red crab, a land species known for its late-fall migration to the sea. The island is ringed with snorkelling and diving reefs. ஆஸ்திரேலியாவில் அடைக்கலமாக விரும்புவோருக்கு கடந்த சில ஆண்டுகளாக நுழைவுவாயிலாக விளங்கியது கிறிஸ்துமஸ் தீவு. இங்கிருந்த தடுப்புக்காவல் மையம் பிரசித்தமானது. கிறிஸ்துமஸ் தீவு என்பது அகதிகளோடு அடையாளம் காணப்பட்டாலும், இந்த தீவின் வரலாறு வித்தியாசமானது. ஆஸ்திரேலியாவைச் சார்ந்த 8,222 தீவுகளுள் ஒன்று என்றாலும் தனக்கென்று தனித்த சிறப்புடைய கிறிஸ்துமஸ் தீவின் வரலாற்றை “நம்ம ஆஸ்திரேலியா” நிகழ்ச்சி மூலம் விளக்குகிறார் கீதா மதிவாணன் அவர்கள்.   

Arul Ezhilan, a leading journalist in Tamil Nadu, directed and produced a documentary film called “Perungadal Vettaththu”. The film documented the stories of fishermen who were killed in sea when “Ockhi”, the first severe cyclonic storm in almost 40 years, hit Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu. RaySel spoke to Arul Ezhilan.

தமிழகத்தின் கடை முனையான குமரி மாவட்டத்தை கடந்த ஆண்டின் இறுதியில் ஓகி புயல் தாக்கியபோது கடலுக்குச் சென்ற நூற்றுக்கணக்கான மீனவர்கள் கடலிலேயே மடிந்துபோனார்கள். இந்த மீனவ மக்களின் அவலத்தையும், அழிவையும், பேரிழப்பையும் “பெருங்கடல் வேட்டத்து”  எனும் பெயரில் ஆவணப்படமாக இயக்கி வெளியிட்டுள்ளார் பத்திரிகையாளர் அருள் எழிலன் அவர்கள்.

Dr. J Emerson Raja, a senior lecturer in Multimedia University, Malaysia, specialised in Machine Condition Monitoring, monitoring the health of the machines using artificial neural network (ANN).  However, he started searching for effectively monitoring the human health for finding solution to the diabetic illness of his father. In the process, he collected so many tips on human health and became specialist in health related topics. Dr. J Emerson Raja who visited Sydney recently spoke to RaySel.

மெல்பேர்னில் அண்மையில் ஆரம்பிக்கப்பட்ட புலம்பெயர்ந்த தொழிலாளர் மையம் என்ற அமைப்பினூடாக புலம்பெயர் பின்னணி கொண்ட தொழிலாளர்கள் வேலைத்தளங்களில் எதிர்கொள்கின்ற சிக்கல்களுக்கு தீர்வு காண்பதற்கான உதவிகள் வழங்கப்படுகின்றன. இது தொடர்பில் விளக்குகிறார் புலம்பெயர்ந்த தொழிலாளர் மையத்தில் பணிபுரியும் லாவண்யா அவர்கள்.

According to the policy note of the Tamil Nadu Government, 61,422 Sri Lankan Tamil refugees are staying in 107 refugees camps in Tamil Nadu. There are 35,316 more refugees are staying outside the camps.  Opinions and dreams about their futures vary among refugees. As the future looks uncertain and bleak, they wonder if returning to Sri Lanka is an option while some are seeking Indian citizenship or dual citizenship to stay permanently in India.

தமிழ்நாடு சட்டப்பேரவையில் சமீபத்தில் சமர்பிக்கப்பட்ட தமிழ்நாடு அரசின் கொள்கைக் குறிப்பின் படி, மாநிலத்தின் வெவ்வேறு பகுதிகளில் உள்ள 107 அகதி முகாம்களில் 61,422 இலங்கை தமிழ் அகதிகள் வசித்து வருகின்றனர். அத்துடன் கூடுதலாக 35,316 அகதிகள் முகாம்களுக்கு வெளியே தங்கியுள்ளனர். இதில் ஒவ்வொரு அகதியும் தங்கள் எதிர்காலம் குறித்து மாறுபட்ட பார்வைகளைக் கொண்டுள்ளனர். நிச்சயமற்ற தன்மையில் சிக்கியிருக்கும் அவர்களது எதிர்காலத்துக்கு இடையே ‘சொந்த நாட்டுக்கு திரும்புதல், இந்திய குடியுரிமை அல்லது இரட்டைக் குடியுரிமை கோருதல்’ என்ற எண்ணங்களுக்குள் சுழன்று கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள். அந்த எண்ணங்களுக்கு பின்னே உள்ள காரணங்களையும், தமிழ் அகதிகள் தொடர்புகள் பல தரப்பு பார்வைகளையும் இப்பாகத்தில் கேட்கலாம்.

Go Back To Where You Came From is a Logie Award-winning Australian TV documentary series on SBS.

The fourth series started from Tuesday 2nd October, and it follows eight Australians, all with differing opinions on Australia's asylum seeker debate, who are being taken on a journey, the same one refugees take to reach Australia.

Maheswaran Prabaharan brings the story of a refugee from the island of Sri Lanka – Sivaraj Siva.

அகதிகள் குறித்த ஆஸ்திரேலியாவின் கொள்கைகள், அகதிகள் மற்றும் புகலிடம் கோருபவர் குறித்த விவாதம் - ஆஸ்திரேலிய சமுதாயத்தின் மிகவும் சிக்கலான, மக்களிடையே பிரிவினையை உருவாக்கும் விடயமாக உருவெடுத்துள்ளது.

தமது சொந்த நாட்டை விட்டுப் புகலிடம் கோரி மக்கள் ஏன் ஆஸ்திரேலியா போன்ற நாடுகளுக்கு வருகிறார்கள் என்பதை எடுத்துக்காட்ட, “வந்த இடத்திற்கே திரும்பிப் போ” என்ற பொருள்பட “Go Back to Where You Came From” என்ற தலைப்பில் SBS ஒரு தொலைக்காட்சித் தொடரை ஒளிபரப்புகிறது.

More Australians are in line to obtain secure employment, with changes from the Fair Work Ombudsman now in effect as of this week. ((oct 1))

The Australian Council of Trade Unions has welcomed the changes, but it says there still may be employees who miss out.
