Sir Frank Macfarlane Burnet was an Australian virologist best known for his contributions to immunology. He won a Nobel Prize in 1960 for predicting acquired immune tolerance and was best known for developing the theory of clonal selection. ஆஸ்திரேலியாவில் பிறந்து, வளர்ந்து, வாழ்ந்து மறைந்த மருத்துவர் சர் ஃபிராங்க் மேக்ஃபார்லேன் பர்னெட் என்பவர் வைரஸ் நோய் நம்மைத் தாக்கும் போது அதன் எதிர்ப்பு  நுண்ணியிரினை உடல் கண்டுபிடித்து நோய் எதிர்ப்பு நுண்ணியிரினை பெருக்கி நோய்கிரிமிகளை எவ்வாறு அழிக்கிறது என்பதை “குளோனிங்க் கோட்பாடு” என்ற தத்துவத்தின் மூலம் விளக்கினார்.  இந்த கோட்பாடு 1960-ஆம் ஆண்டில் மருத்துவம் சார்ந்த  நோபல் பரிசை பெற்றுக்கொடுத்தது.  இப்பரிசினை இவருடன் சேர்ந்து சர் பீட்டர் மெடோவார் அவர்களும் பகிர்ந்து கொண்டார்.  அது மட்டுமின்றி நோய் எதிர்ப்பு நுண்ணுயிரிகளை பெருமளவில் தொழிற்கூடங்களில் வளர்த்து தடுப்பூசிகள் தயாரிப்பதற்கு வழி செய்த முன்னோடியும் ஆவார்.இவர் குறித்த அரிய தகவல்களை “நம்ம ஆஸ்திரேலியா” நிகழ்ச்சி மூலம் முன்வைக்கிறார்  4EB தமிழ் ஒலிபரப்பின் ரமாதேவி தனசேகர் அவர்கள்.

According to the Cancer Council, skin cancers accounted for around 80 per cent of all diagnosed cancers in Australia last year. Around 750,000 people a year are treated for non-melanoma skin cancers with more than 2,000 dying as a result. And new research in Victoria shows that while rates are dropping among younger people, for those over 55 numbers continue to rise.
