A federal parliamentarian is calling for tougher standards for international drivers in Australia after the holiday road toll finished at staggering numbers. More than 60 people died on Australian roads during the just-ended official holiday season. Maheswaran Prabaharan has the story in Tamil, written by Natarsha Kallios and Amanda Copp for SBS News.

When her baby boy was born she filled her bookshelf with amazing, colourful and engaging children’s books – but none of them were in Tamil.  Children's books she could find were of very low quality.  So, what did Vanitha Veerasamy do?  Simple, created her own.   Vanitha shares her experience of that with Kulasegaram Sanchayan.

Although Rajini is supposedly the highest paid actor in Asia (next only to Jackie Chan), Rajini is a controversial figure in Tamil Nadu, a South Indian state where almost all Chief Ministers (Premiers) have been former actors since 1967.

Dr Dhamu Pongiyannan, author of "Film and Politics in India: Cinematic Charisma as a Gateway to Political Power," and Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide (School of Humanities) talks to Kulasegaram Sanchayan.
