Laughter yoga is a practice involving prolonged voluntary laughter. Laughter yoga is based on the belief that voluntary laughter provides the same physiological and psychological benefits as spontaneous laughter. Laughter yoga is done in groups, with eye contact, jokes and playfulness between participants. Forced laughter soon turns into real and contagious laughter. Renuka talks to Laughter yoga teacher Siripananada to learn more about  this.

This year's NAPLAN* (National Assessment Program-Literacy and Numeracy) national report is being described as a "wake up call", with results showing students declining overall in their reading and writing scores.

However, children from migrant backgrounds are topping the nation in Year 3 spelling, while Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island children have improved their results significantly over the past 10 years.

ஆஸ்திரேலியாவில் மாணவர்களின் கல்வித் தராதரத்தை நிர்ணயிக்கும் NAPLAN பரீட்சை முடிவுகள் அண்மையில் வெளியாகியிருக்கின்றன.

ஆஸ்திரேலியாவின் கல்விதிறன் குறித்து அக்கறை செலுத்த வேண்டிய தேவையை அது எடுத்துக்காட்டுகிறது என்று விமர்சிக்கப்படுகிறது.

ஆனால், ஆஸ்திரேலியாவிற்குக் குடியேறியவர்களது குழந்தைகள் மற்றைய மாணவர்களைவிட சிறப்பாக தேர்வுப் பெறுபேறுகளைப் பெற்றிருக்கிறார்கள்.  அத்துடன், பூர்வீக சிறுவர்கள் கடந்த 10 ஆண்டுகளில் கணிசமாக முன்னேறியுள்ளார்கள்.    இது குறித்து Matt Connellan மற்றும் Natarsha Kallios எழுதிய விவரணத்தைத் தமிழில் தருகிறார் குலசேகரம் சஞ்சயன்.

Musician Srinivas was in Sydney recently to perform at a musical concert. Srinivas is a playback singer who has sung over 2000 songs in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. He has also worked independently as a music composer, working on films and private albums.

Kulasegaram Sanchayan talked to Musician Srinivas before he left his home city, Chennai. In this concluding part of the two-part interview, Srinivas talks about his views on the music industry, and his experience as a play-back singer and composer.

இசையமைப்பாளர் ஸ்ரீனிவாஸ் சமீபத்தில் சிட்னியில் ஒரு இசை நிகழ்ச்சியில் பங்கேற்க வந்திருந்தார்.  மலையாளம், தமிழ், தெலுங்கு, கன்னடம் மற்றும் ஹிந்தி மொழிகளில் 2000ற்கும் மேற்பட்ட பாடல்களைப் பாடியுள்ள ஒரு பின்னணி பாடகரான ஸ்ரீனிவாஸ், திரைப்படங்களிலும் தனிப்பட்ட இறுவெட்டுகளிலும் இசையமைப்பாளராகவும் பணிபுரிந்துள்ளார்.

இசைக்கலைஞர் ஸ்ரீனிவாஸ் சென்னையிலிருந்து சிட்னிக்குப் புறப்பட முன்னர் குலசேகரம் சஞ்சயனுடன் உரையாடியிருந்தார்.  இரண்டு பாகங்களாக ஒலிபரப்பாகும் நேர்காணலின் இறுதிப் பாகத்தில், ஒரு இசையமைப்பாளராகவும் பின்னணிப் பாடகாராகவும் தனது அனுபவங்கள் குறித்துப் பேசுகிறார்.

A group of volunteers distributes cooked food for needy people who are living in Parramatta area. Wthout any advertisements or banners, they are doing this service on every Mondays, for more than 25 years. Maheswaran Prabaharan is speaking to Mrs Kamala and Mr Natraj regarding their service.

சிட்னியிலுள்ள Parramatta Alfred Park இல் ஒவ்வொரு திங்கள் இரவும், வசதி குறைந்தோருக்கு சமைத்த உணவு வழங்கப்பட்டு வருகிறது. எந்தவித விளம்பரங்களோ அன்றி பதாதைகளோ இன்றி வழங்கப்படுகின்ற உணவினைப் பெறுவதற்குப் பலர் வரிசையில் காத்து நிற்கின்றனர். உணவு வழங்குபவர்களில் தமிழ் மொழி பேசும் திருமதி கமலா மற்றும் திரு நட்ராஜ் ஆகியோருடன் பேச முற்பட்டபோது, வானொலியில் பேச முதலில் மறுத்தாலும் பின்னர் எமது அன்பான வேண்டுகோளுக்கு இணங்க உரையாடினார்கள். அவர்களுடன் உரையாடியவர் மகேஸ்வரன் பிரபாகரன்.

தமிழகத்தில் பெரும் பரபரப்பை ஏற்படுத்திய உடுமலை சங்கர் ஆணவப் படுகொலை வழக்கில் நேற்று அதிரடித் தீர்ப்பு வழங்கப்பட்டது. ஜாதி மறுப்பு திருமணம் செய்து கொண்ட காரணத்தால் படுகொலை செய்யப்பட்ட உடுமலைப்பேட்டை சங்கர் வழக்கில் கவுசல்யாவின் தந்தை சின்னசாமி உட்பட 6 பேருக்கு திருப்பூர் நீதிமன்றம் தூக்கு தண்டனை விதித்து அதிரடி தீர்ப்பளித்துள்ளது. இந்த அதிரடி தீர்ப்புக்கு சங்கரின் மனைவி கௌசல்யா, பல்வேறு அரசியல் கட்சி தலைவர்கள் மற்றும் சமூக ஆர்வலர்கள் வரவேற்பு தெரிவித்துள்ளனர். கௌசல்யாவின் தாய் இந்த கொலை வழக்கில் இருந்து விடுதலை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார். ஆனால் தனது தாயின் விடுதலையை எதிர்த்து உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தில் மேல்முறையீடு செய்யவுள்ளதாக கௌசல்யா கூறியுள்ளார்.
