Corona-time has seen us all battle with addictions and familiar comforts used to cope with uncertainty and stress.
We get to know the best and the most-weary of ourselves through this period of liminality.
If we spend a little time listening to our bodies and resting in that uncomfortable moment that makes us reach for the habit, we have already dismantled something that has for years assumed authority over us. Stay with it – the discomfort – that need to escape, the longing to numb or hurt yourself and see where it leads you that isn’t the habit.
I have been practising this for a few weeks now and so far this moment of discomfort has instead guided me on miles and miles of midnight walks – over dunes and sand flutes. It has taken me away from myself, only to return to a deeper version of who I am.
