Nadine Pember is the founder and Strategy Director at Simply Social Media. Storytelling is her passion. Simply Social Media is a small marketing agency in Vancouver, British Columbia working to help companies create compelling brands, then put that brand to work through a comprehensive content marketing strategy.
I have moments where I feel I am maybe getting emotionally tied up into a situation.
I then take time to reflect on the bigger picture and let that go.
I let that person do what they need to do in that moment and then try to focus again on brand and aligned values and decide what my next step will be.
I have no professional experience in the area of breathing, but I personally do take a few moments to go sit down and breathe if I feel like I need it.
In my late 20s, I worked for an app development company as the director of business development, and it was wonderful.
I spent a lot of time on the road, attending conferences, mostly in the U.S. At the time, I was a young, and young-looking woman.
At those conferences I often encountered dismissive and sexist behavior. I learned how to navigate it, and as I grew more confident, I sometimes corrected it in the moment.
You pick and choose your moments to stand up for yourself.
