Let’s talk honestly about the impact of social media. From Twitter to TikTok and the whole Metaverse in between, it is now well documented to have a significantly negative impact on our children’s mental health – linked to depression, anxiety, and increase suicide rates. What do we need to know about these platforms, how do we help our children and teens navigate these platforms, and where do we draw the lines.
I’ll be answering these questions and setting out my honest thoughts on social media and how mindless use, in my view, is as dangerous for their long-term health and wellbeing as smoking.
Here are the highlights:
(00:59) Jonah Hill is yet another A-lister quitting social media

(10:42) Maintain a continual dialogue with your children
(16:26) Model the behaviour you want from your kids
(19:53) Actively track social media use
(23:42) You are the sum of your 5 closest friends
