We examine the story of Jody Plauche.

Jody Plauche from Baton Rouge, Louisiana made national headlines in March 1984 when he was abducted by his karate teacher and taken 2,000 miles away from home to Los Angeles, Ca. FBI officials rescued Jody and his abductor was arrested. Upon his karate teacher’s return, Jody’s father Gary, shot and killed him. The shooting was captured by WBRZ news crew, a local ABC affiliate.

Jody has worked in the field of violence prevention since 1995. While attending Louisiana State University, he served on the executive board for Men Against Violence, a campus organization aimed at preventing campus violence, including sexual assault and other physical violence.

For seven years, Jody worked at Victim Services Center of Montgomery County, a comprehensive crime victim center in Norristown, PA. At Victim Services , Jody worked as a sexual assault counselor as well as a prevention educator, and eventually became the Supervisor of Community Education Programs.

Dr. Brucato is presently a Visiting Scholar at Boston College, where he collaborates with Drs. Ann W. Burgess and Victor Petreca on forensic research. They have examined crimes, such as murder, including serial killing; sex offenses; mutilation and dismemberment; and the insanity defense. He is currently serving as a consultant on a grant-funded project by Burgess and Petreca, analyzing murders involving asphyxiation by strangulation and other means. He is a member of Dr. Burgess’ Super Sleuths group, in which experts from diverse forensic disciplines convene to provide consultation on various cold cases.

It’s a special Sunday Night Live edition of #Karm on the Case.

Ellen Greenberg was a 27-year-old first grade teacher at Juniata Park Academy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

At approximately 6:40 p.m. on January 26, 2011, Ellen was pronounced dead as a result of twenty stab wounds, including ten to the back of her head and neck.

In addition, there were eleven bruises in various stages of resolution on her right arm, abdomen, and right leg.

Despite all the evidence to the contrary, the Medical Examiner, Dr. Marlon Osbourne, ruled her death a suicide.

He later admitted that he had originally planned on ruling the manner of death either a homicide or undetermined, but changed it to suicide at the insistence of the police.

Evidence shows that at least two of the 20 stab wounds were inflicted after Greenberg’s heart stopped beating suggesting she was attacked after she had already died.

Lawyers for the Greenbergs are now hoping to get Ellen’s case re-reviewed by the Chester County District Attorney's Office.

Greenberg's family has long sought to get her suicide ruling changed to homicide or undetermined.
