Attorneys for Shanna Gardner continued to argue in court Friday that she should be released on bond ahead of her trial in the murder-for-hire plot that prosecutors say left her ex-husband, 33-year-old Jared Bridegan, dead in 2022. 

Gardner and her estranged husband, Mario Fernandez, are under indictment for first-degree murder in Bridegan’s death and both face the possibility of the death penalty. 

Attorneys also argued Friday for certain evidence to be thrown out before the trial because lead attorney Jose Baez accused prosecutors of not turning over “critical evidence” to the defense.

A juror in the Karen Read murder trial recently reached out to defense attorney David Yannetti to clarify to him that the jury didn’t think Read knew she hit her Boston police officer boyfriend and that they found her not guilty of two of three indictments. 

A new filing in Norfolk Superior Court on Monday indicated the jury determined that even if Read hit John O’Keefe with her Lexus SUV, she did not realize that she did. 

In a prior affidavit, Yannetti quoted an unsolicited text message from “Juror B” that read, “No one thought she hit him on purpose or even thought she hit him on purpose.”

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court decided on Tuesday to hear the case of Ellen Greenberg whose death was ruled a suicide in 2011, but her parents have fought for over a decade to get the manner of death changed to a homicide or undecided. 

Greenberg’s family has been in a years-long fight with the City of Philadelphia over Ellen’s manner of death since it was ruled a suicide in 2011. 

Ellen Greenberg was a 27-year-old first grade teacher at Juniata Park Academy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. 

At approximately 6:40 p.m. on January 26, 2011, Ellen was pronounced dead as a result of twenty stab wounds, including ten to the back of her head and neck. 

In addition, there were eleven bruises in various stages of resolution on her right arm, abdomen, and right leg. Signs of abuse. 

Despite all the evidence to the contrary, the Medical Examiner, Dr. Marlon Osbourne, ruled her death a suicide.
