Stargazing in Nantou County

There's something magical about a sky full of stars…

But this magical sight is getting harder and harder to find.

Some of us live in the city.

The city is full of lights and noise, even at nighttime.

That makes it hard to see stars in the sky.

And even outside the city, there are still many lights on at night.

But soon, there will be a special place for watching the stars.

"Starry Mountain City" will be built in Nantou County.

The stargazing area will be in the Cing-jing (清境) area and on Hehuan Mountain (合歡山).

Some of that area has already been named as Taiwan's first international dark-sky park.

合歡山是國內第一座國際認證暗空公園。

The Hehuan Mountain Dark Sky Park has very little light pollution.

Keeping the night dark is better for seeing the stars of course.

But it's also better for wild animals, saves electricity, and may help us rest and sleep better.

So the government is hoping that the Starry Mountain City project will help protect the environment, and become a new place to enjoy the night sky.

Three villages and six indigenous communities around Cing-jing and Lu-shan will help with the project.

They will help make sure that there aren't too many lights in the area.

There will be a shopping area at Cing-jing that is 1,700 meters high.

Or visitors can enjoy a stargazing tour in Cuei-fong (翠峰) even higher up in the mountains at 2,300 meters.

And a planetarium will be built on Yuan-fong (鳶峰) at an altitude of 2,800 meters.

Eiffel Tower Grows Taller

Have you heard of the Eiffel Tower?

It's a famous tower in Paris, France.

The tower opened in 1889.

It's the tallest building in Paris.

It was also the tallest building in the world for 41 years.

And even though the Eiffel Tower is 133 years old, it is still growing!

Well, that's not exactly what happened.

Last week, the Eiffel Tower got a little bit taller.

A 6-meter-high antenna (天線) was added to the top of the tower.

A helicopter lifted the antenna to the top of the tower.

Now, the Eiffel Tower is about 330 meters tall.

That's about the height of a building with 81 floors.

The antenna will help make the sound of digital radio clearer in the area.

這座新天線會向首都地區傳遞數位廣播。

Right now, the tallest building in the world is the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.

According to the Guinness World Records, the Burj Khalifa is almost 828 meters tall.

Even so, the Eiffel Tower is still one of the most famous buildings in the world.

In fact, before the COVID-19 pandemic, around 7,000,000 people visited the tower each year.

Minnie Mouse "Curates" Lo-Fi Album

Disney's Minnie Mouse has released an album, sort of.

The album is called "Lofi Minnie: Focus".

And it's 10 famous Disney songs, but reimagined (重新構想).

All the songs now have a lo-fi style.

Lo-fi is "low-fidelity" music (低傳真音樂).

It's supposed to sound not very professional, almost like someone recorded it at home.

Lo-fi music can include sounds like raindrops or footsteps.

Lo-fi 是指製作中故意用不完美的音質錄製的音樂作品，有時候會出現一些錄製環境中的雜音。

And many people say lo-fi sounds "dreamy" and relaxing.

Some people also say it helps them concentrate and study.

Now, Disney says Minnie Mouse and lo-fi are a perfect fit.

The company says Minnie is interested in creativity, music and wellness (生理和心理的健康).

And Disney says the album lets listeners relax with Minnie as they go through their day.

Some of the songs on the album include Aladdin's "A Whole New World" and Frozen 2's "Into the Unknown".
