  • 75. That growth game with Cardin Mckiney

We are so excited about Cardin coming back for a second round! In this podcast, Cardin shares how to rise from the ashes. Making a conscious choice to not stay in the rubble, but to keep moving forward. Remembering that trauma doesn't define you and that it's healthy to process and heal, but we also need to move forward.

Living a life where you are thriving and not just surviving means getting out of your comfort zone and stretching yourself. Vulnerability is also very important to thrive. Cardin encourages listeners to get out of their head and listen to others and offer goodness to them.

Rose is the oil that Cardin uses every day, rolling on her neck and wrists. Arise and Magnolia are other oils that Cardin incorporates into her daily life.

  • 72. Healthy habits for your kids with Crystal Karges RDN, IBCLC, Dietician

Crystal Karges is a registered dietitian, a mom to five beautiful children, and someone who is very committed to creating a freedom generation to help overwhelmed moms nurture a peaceful relationship with food and their bodies.

In her late teens to early 20s, Crystal struggled with an eating disorder which greatly influenced her thought about food and her body. She used these struggles as motivation to heal her own relationship with food and body. She believes that many can relate to what she experienced which is why she is so passionate in helping moms feel more confident in feeding themselves as this will also impact how they feed their kids.

Crystal gave a tip for parents to focus on this mantra "The Parents provides and the child decides" which means parents should be responsible on what they offer to their kids and expose them to a variety of different foods and put the pressure on the kid to decide whether or not they want to eat what was served.

Crystal encourages parents to let their kids play with their food, she believes this is part of the learning stages for kids to be familiarized and eventually love the foods being offered to them. Bribery tactics were also discussed during this interview. Crystal believes that this is being practiced with well-intention and possibly some tried to replicate behaviors that they learned growing up.

Crystal highlighted the importance of language on how parents talk about food to their children. She is in favor of parents talking about anything else besides the food during meals. Being able to teach children to have a good relationship with food will help them to build confidence in this area. It will also take the pressure and stress off from parents when they know their kids have clear thoughts on the food they eat.

  • 71. Trusting in God's plan with Audra Hayney

Audra Haney lives in Knoxville, TN with her husband Cory who is a global missions pastor and her two sassy daughters, Norah (5) and Lydia (2). Audra is also the host and producer of The 5 Minute Mom Podcast, which features short, encouraging monologues and faith-based interviews under 30 minutes. Audra spends the rest of her time changing diapers, wiping noses, and answering 5 year old questions like, "Can I get a unicorn for Christmas?" and "Will there be gluten free donuts in Heaven?"

Audra has a huge heart for moms and loves to encourage moms in their journeys.

After pursuing a career in broadcast journalism, she realized that her heart wanted to be in the ministry. God was faithful and provided a job with the Christian Broadcasting network. Audra ended up falling in love with podcasting and began The 5 Minute Mom Podcast.

An upgrade that Audra has taken is doing things God's way and trusting that he will provide for her needs.

Some non-negotiables for Audra are finding pockets of time to have a quiet time and walking daily with the Lord.

Audra wishes that others knew that God wants to speak to you intimately and wants to answer the big questions you have, but also the little questions.

Audra is reading Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport and she cannot live without Instacart!

Audra also wishes that people knew that as a pastor's wife she does not always have it together.

Social media is something that Audra is currently struggling with.

Audras favorite healthy snack is clean juice and favorite indulgence is Almond Joys.

  • 69.How to co-parent successfully with Julie Ciardi

Julie is a life and business coach who helps mamas remember that they are more than mommy by helping them start a side hustle. She left a Fortune 500 vice president of marketing corporate job of 16 years for entrepreneurship and hasn't looked back. Julie is the podcast host of the More than Mommy Podcast. She is also the owner & CEO of Julie Ciardi, LLC providing coaching, courses, and programs for moms. Julie is also an Executive at EVER, a clean beauty company leading a team of amazing moms working their side hustle!

She is married and the mother to 3 children. Julie also co-parents her older 2 kids like a boss with their dad!

Julie begins the podcast by encouraging divorced moms to not refer to the children's father as her ex-husband, but rather refer to him as their children's father. When you have children and get a divorce, you are never truly divorced. You will still have to spend the rest of your life with that other person at celebrations, school events, and ceremonies. It really reframes the way you and your kids see their father when you refer to him that way vs my ex-husband.

Julie encourages divorced parents to stay close in proximity if possible. The children have to pack up and go to different houses every other week or whatever the schedule is, so its easier on everyone if the parents live close.

Making decisions together as co-parents as if the parents live in the same home is so very important. Staying on the same page and communicating is key to a healthy parenting relationship.

Julie encourages us to be a victor and not a victim in relationships. Choosing to let some things go and try and see the best in someone is the best way to have a healthy relationship.

Tips for being remarried and being a step-parent from Julie are to look at the relationship with a long term vision even when it's difficult. Trying to see your child's perspective is also important in understanding the child's emotions.
