These times were unprecedented. People were working from home, kids were going to school from home, and everything was online.   All of this created a gold rush of sorts for many online businesses. 

The events going on in the world today are different than they were then and the things people are interested in online have evolved. There are a lot of online businesses that haven’t adapted to the world landscape and as a result, businesses are facing challenges. 

You’ve got to be willing to adapt, innovate, and be different than other people.  It’s more important than ever that you take the time to connect with your customers and see what they want so that you can decide what steps to take moving forward.

My goal for you with this episode and my conversation with Pat Flynn is to get you to really consider adding YouTube to your existing business as an additional marketing channel. One of the best things we can do for our business is to diversify our traffic, and with YouTube, you don’t have to be extravagant to see results. 

The trick is to think about YouTube in terms of consistency. I don’t have subscriber goals with my channel, I have consistency goals. The idea is that you are planting seeds with your videos. The algorithm will eventually pick up one of your videos and push it out to new viewers which will grow your channel. 

You haven’t missed the boat with starting a YouTube channel. It’s still the number two search engine. Video is where it’s at and where it’s going. Adding a YouTube channel to your business is a huge opportunity.

One of the biggest mistakes I made during my years of podcasting was not keeping track of where I was putting my promotions, so it was very difficult to update them when I needed to change out what I was promoting.

Dynamic content or dynamic ads have been a game-changer for this show. My view has evolved over the last several years. At first, I spent freely. If I wanted something, I got it. After a while though, I really started to be conscious of my money, and I realized that my profit margins were much lower than I expected. That’s when I started to change my mindset around my business.

We’re here to make an impact, and we can’t make an impact if our business isn’t making any money. I am now much more strategic and intentional about my business expenses and look at it all from an ROI perspective and not just a financial one.
