Taking you back to -  12/1/2009 - If you are a fan and historian of KCBS competition BBQ, the year 2009 must surely stick in your head as one of the closest competition races for Team of the year title…back then it was a 3 way battle of now legendary teams…Iowa Smokey D’s, I Smell Smoke and Pellet Envy. Spoiler alert…Pellet Envy ends up winning the last contest of the year and thus, the 2009 KCBS TOTY title…but in this interview I spoke with Darren Warth and Steve Farrin…here’s what I take away from both pitmasters from back in 2009…Darren was using a pair of WSM as that time…and both Darren and Steve were also using an FE100 pellet cooker…my how times have changed...but back then, the FE cooker was a favorite pit by many of top pitmasters on the competition trail.
