The Big Boo Cast

This week Melanie updates us on what we fear might be the new Whoop City for Aggie football, and we talk through where we are in the writing process. I share an exceptionally boring recap of what went on in Birmingham this past week, and Melanie tells us about her recent trip to - you'll never guess it - College Station.

We also talk about what we've been watching, and it's Melanie's turn for Five Favorites.

Enjoy, everybody!

This week Melanie and I share some favorite moments from last week's SEC Media Days, complete with Melanie's thoughts about how's she's trying to manage her Aggie-related expectations. We also cover my reaction to Barbie (spoiler alert: I LOVED IT) and Melanie's reaction to Air (spoiler alert: SHE LOVED IT) - along with Melanie's very deep feelings about season two of The Bear.

On top of all that, it's my turn for Five Favorites.

Hope you enjoy!

One of our very favorite friends, Travis Cottrell, joins us on this week's episode (ALERT ALERT HE HAS A NEW ALBUM COMING OUT ON FRIDAY 7/21), and Melanie and I had the best time catching up with him. Travis tells us about what it's like to sing background vocals on the Grand Ole Opry (AS YOU DO), and he and Mel have a big discussion about some newer country artists they love to listen to.

Also, I feel like I need to confess that I spent the last 30-ish minutes of this episode with my head on my desk because I was on the front end of a stomach virus and didn't know it at the time. Plus the site we use to record kept kicking me out of the recording and the last time I rejoined my microphone wasn't connected but who even cares because I was about to get in the bed anyway. NONETHELESS, we made it through - and it's Melanie's turn for Five Favorites - along with some favorites from Travis.

Since Melanie has been in Colorado and I've been in Mississippi, we did a super quick recording / editing / posting turnaround this week. Apologies in advance if the quality of the episode isn't what you've grown to expect, and yes, I cackled a little bit when I typed that. Anyway, this week we talk about our travels, my daddy's internet speed (I liken it to an AOL / dial-up situation), a book we both loved, and our recent Patreon episode with Dr. Mary Claire Haver that may have changed both of our lives.

Also, I share why I only read on my iPad or Kindle, and it's my turn for Five Favorites.

Hope you enjoy!

It's just a whole lot of real life on this week's episode - no mountains, no writing retreat, no "DAAAAAD!" So Melanie updates us on the Shankles, I update on the Hudsons, and then I talk at great length about season 2 of The Bear, which, for the record, has the worst language of any show I have ever watched but my goodness I love it so much. We also analyze options for a new TV show for Mel and share a quick Patreon catch-up.

On top of all that, we discuss the pointlessness of 4th of July outfits, and it's Melanie's turn for Five Favorites.

Hope you enjoy!

We went to Highlands, North Carolina last week, so on this week's episode, Melanie and I talk all about it: the car ride, the writing, the college baseball, and the big laughs with our friend and travel companion Erin. We had ourselves a fine time, and you're going to hear all the details.

Be advised that there's a special clip at the very end of the episode (courtesy of Erin), and it's my turn for Five Favorites.

Well, Melanie needs some swivel chairs, so this week we discuss her swivel chairs shopping strategy. I share a very unexpected college baseball development (spoiler alert: I cheered for Tennessee against Stanford in the College World Series), and we both do a quick update on our weekends, our current reading situations, and our grown-up perspectives on Brooke Shields.

We also talk a little bit about our upcoming writing trip, and it's Melanie's turn for Five Favorites.

Enjoy, everybody!

Melanie and I met each other in Boston at the end of last week, so on this episode we recap our trip and talk about why we decided to go in the first place. We also share our thoughts about college baseball super regionals (I've done a little thinking about everyone's uniforms), not to mention that we do a quick reading update.

To our delight, there's a new season of a TV show that we love - so you'll hear all about that - and it's my turn for Five Favorites.

Hope you enjoy!

This week we wonder why baseball coaches wear baseball uniforms, we speculate about whether or not cottage cheese has been the recipient of a PR campaign, and we talk A LOT about college baseball regionals.

I also share some details about my recent anniversary trip to NYC (shows! so many shows!), and it's Melanie's turn for Five Favorites.

Enjoy, everybody!

This week we talk about the Aggies' run in the SEC baseball tournament, we discuss jewelry and cosmetics organization, and we review the obscene quantity of television we've consumed since our last episode. I think you'll agree that our joy is palpable (she says, a little sarcastically).

Also, we have a long conversation about tomatoes, and it's my turn for Five Favorites, which is when you'll hear me work harder than I ever have to convince Melanie that one of my favorites really is cute.

Enjoy, everybody!
