The Big Boo Cast

Well, it's March Madness, and as you will hear in this episode, Melanie is mad about her Aggies being a 7-seed in the tournament. There may be a bit of a rant, which means I laugh a whole bunch. We also answer a listener's question about what kinds of sports fans we are (here's a hint: animated), we discuss our weekends with our college kids, and we talk through some recent fun finds at Trader Joe's.

If you listen to the intro of the episode, you'll hear some exciting (for us, at least) save-the-date news, and it's Melanie's turn for Five Favorites.

It's good-times-a-plenty this week as Melanie and I recap her trip to College Station, my trip to Slidell, Louisiana, and that time I cooked for 27 of Alex's closest friends. We also break down our thoughts about a true crime documentary we both watched recently, and I explain why I pondered my personal need for a redemptive biscuit this past Saturday afternoon.

Plus, Melanie shares what she's loving about a new TV show, and it's my turn for Five Favorites.

Hope y'all enjoy!

On this episode Melanie and I discuss my trip to Starkville for the State / A&M basketball game (it was a dandy, it was) and our tendencies to arrive VERY early to sporting events. Plus, Melanie went to a Nelly concert at the rodeo, and I have an exciting Target remodeling update. Although "exciting" might be a really generous term.

We also do a quick reading check-in, Melanie shares her reaction to her new oh-so-70s sunglasses, and it's my turn for Five Favorites.

Enjoy, y'all!

This is apparently an episode where Melanie and I feel compelled to share our enthusiasm about all manner of things: basketball coaches, basketball uniforms, sunglasses, and the oranges that have absolutely rocked my world. Plus, Melanie talks about her time at the rodeo in San Antonio and I do a small bit of whining about the lack of A/C at the State / Kentucky game.

We also discuss the new books that are on our To Read piles, and it's my turn for Five Favorites.

Enjoy, y'all!

This week Melanie and I discuss what we talk about before we actually start recording each week's episode (my mama would say that it's when we really get into the "nitty gritty"), how P has absolutely been influenced in terms of how he hosts a guys' weekend, and how legit Texas tacos have made their way to Birmingham. You will not be surprised that we also spend a good deal of time focusing on the latest in college basketball because Joe Lunardi is apparently the boss of us right now.

We have lo, another book update because I have started reading the book about the fairies (who am I?), and it's Melanie's turn for Five Favorites.

Hope y'all enjoy!

If you're a fan of variety, this episode should be right up your podcast alley. Melanie and I discuss foods we don't like right now, foods we do like, NFL league championship games, and a potential new slogan for college basketball.

We also dig into our feelings about books that take place in lands that don't exist, we evaluate our current writing set-ups / chair needs, and Melanie shares her Five Favorites.

Enjoy, everybody!

Melanie and I didn't intend to sound like we've given up this week, but we do talk about the frustrating state of empty nest cooking as well as our ability to remember detailed song lyrics from the 80s while having absolutely no idea where the scissors are. Plus, Melanie shares about her weekend in College Station, and I may or may not recite a classic Amy Grant song like it's a poem.

We also discuss what we're looking for in the next fiction book we read (epic! sweeping! preferably in an air conditioned setting!), and it's my turn for Five Favorites.

On this episode Melanie and I talk about the college football National Championship, and one thing we for sure agree on is that Nick Saban is a delight and a joy as a commentator. We share some details from our respective weekends, and we spend a good bit of time breaking down my unwavering affection for Amy Grant (I have been in my feels about AG ever since I watched the Kennedy Center Honors a couple of weeks ago).

Also, Melanie updates us on what she's been reading, and it's my turn for Five Favorites.
