The Big Boo Cast

Well, the Aggies didn't win, but just as she predicted, Melanie enjoyed the snacks and the company at this past weekend's Texas A&M / Ole Miss game. We talk about both of those things, as well as Caroline's game day overalls and the pre-game festivities. Then, in news unrelated to football, we discuss the quality time D and I have had with Alex's roommate and why I may open a bed and breakfast for sick college students.

Also, this week marks the kick-off of our annual Holiday Gift Guide - we're talking about gift ideas for teenage boys and teenage girls - and it's my turn for Five Favorites.

Over the years Melanie and I have had a lot of conversations about college football, but I don't think she has ever been as fired up about her Aggies as she is this week. That is to say: our friend is a smidge angry. We process some of that anger before we move into Side Eyes and I See Yous, and then we do a little catch-up on the non-football things that have happened this past week. You may pick up on the fact that non-football life has been a much more consistent source of joy.

We also do a quick summary of what we've been reading / watching / listening to, we marvel at so many things related to Taylor Swift, and it's Melanie's turn for Five Favorites.

Hope y'all enjoy!

This past weekend Melanie and I got to experience watching college football together - we were in Texas with our friend Retha - and while we didn't get to see as many games as we normally do, we did behold the wonder of the best college football game in some time: Alabama vs. Tennessee. Naturally we talk about it - along with this week's smaller-than-usual collection of Side Eyes and I See Yous.

We also recap our time in Brenham / College Station, along with a couple of books I've recently read and really enjoyed. Plus, it's my turn for Five Favorites.

Enjoy, everybody!

This week Melanie and I find ourselves on opposite ends of football fortune, so you're going to hear a lot of sympathizing, a lot of commiserating, and a better than average amount of celebrating. Plus, as you might expect, we offer our perhaps misguided but nonetheless enthusiastic analysis of the last play of the A&M / Alabama game. WE HAVE SOME THOUGHTS.

There's also a good bit of discussion about my hair, a recap of Alex's time home during fall break, and it's Melanie's turn for Five Favorites.

Enjoy, everybody!

Well, the Bulldogs and the Aggies played football this past weekend, and as you can imagine, only one of us is pleased with the outcome. We break down all of our respective feelings about the game (y'all may want to keep Melanie in your prayers) before we move into our weekly Side Eyes and I See Yous.

We also discuss my recent trip to the northeast, I offer some book recommendations, and it's my turn for Five Favorites.

Hope y'all enjoy!

It was a victorious football weekend for the Aggies and the Bulldogs, so of course Melanie and I offer our perspectives on both our teams. Melanie also shares her relief that she can put another year of the Arkansas / A&M rivalry behind her, and we both have some side eyes and I see yous.

We share some collective surprise that there's so much good TV to look forward to (fall is going to be very kind to us in that regard), and Melanie breaks down her latest scent adventures with her Pura (these are exciting adventures indeed at our current stage of life). Plus, it's Mel's turn for Five Favorites.

Enjoy, y'all!

The football horizon is a bit brighter this week for Melanie and her Aggies, and even though that was not the case for my Bulldogs and me (congrats, LSU), Mel and I  talk about some weekend events that brought us all manner of joy. We also unexpectedly shifted into a conversation about which SEC fans are mostly likely to slide into our DMs after a win (and which ones rarely say anything), so if you feel like we have stepped on your toes a little bit, please know that we love you all.

We both share some Side Eyes, I have an exciting TV update (well, it was exciting for me personally, but I doubt anyone else really cares), and it's my turn for Five Favorites.

Enjoy, y'all!

The football sun didn't shine on A&M this past weekend, so in this epsiode Melanie and I spend some time processing and working through the Aggies' loss to Appalachian State. We also talk about a few other upsets from this past weekend and offer some Side Eyes and I See Yous - all in an effort to distract Melanie from her pain, of course.

David and I got to spend some time with Alex this past Friday night, so we break that down with some Serious Empty Nest Philosophizing (TM), and it's Mel's turn for Five Favorites.

Hope y'all enjoy!

It's probably not a surprise to anyone, but after the first big weekend of college football, this episode is A Lot of Sports. This is also what we like to refer to as our happy place. And while our sound wouldn't pick up Melanie's little noisemaker for some reason, we did not let that deter us from our first round of Side Eyes and I See Yous for this new season. We won't always talk about football quite this much, but it seemed right and fitting for the first big game weekend.

We also discuss our recent closet clean-outs, our Empty Nest Feelings,  and our desperation to have actual conversations with our children. Plus it's my turn for Five Favorites.

Well, Alex lives at college now, and on this episode Melanie and I talk all about the move-in process and the fact that we're both empty nesters now. Plus, Melanie tells us how the past showed up in her present this past weekend (AS IT WILL DO), and I share about a text thread that overtook my life this past Saturday night.

We also discuss a Netflix documentary that we both loved, and it's Melanie's turn for Five Favorites.
