One of the most powerful ways to grow as a coach is to observe transformational coaching sessions in action, and that's exactly what this episode gives you.
In this live coaching demonstration with Mary Ellen, you'll get a front-row seat to one of the most important balancing acts in all of client work: how to help a client drill down into a clear, tight intention for a session, while simultaneously keeping the experience loose and open enough for genuine breakthroughs to emerge organically.
It's a delicate dynamic. Too tight, and you're leading the session with your agenda instead of your client's truth. Too loose, and the session loses its focus and productive momentum. Watching this balance in action — in a real session, in real time — is one of the fastest ways to develop this skill in your own coaching practice.
This session also demonstrates how possible it is to go genuinely deep with a client even when the session is not long and you don't yet have much context about them. That alone is worth the listen.

"Don't be attached to outcome": you've probably heard this phrase before, especially in soul-centered business and coaching spaces. But most people don't actually know what it means. And once you truly understand it, it becomes one of the most liberating and practical principles you can apply to your sales conversations, your client sessions, your groups, and your life.
In this episode, we break it down fully — what non-attachment to outcome actually is, what it isn't, and why getting this right changes everything about how you show up in your work.
This one is a shorter episode, and it is rich. Whether you're preparing for a sales conversation, sitting across from a client who's stuck, or navigating your own fear around a launch or a goal…this principle applies directly.

The best marketing strategy in the world is being a practitioner of excellence — one whose clients get such extraordinary results that they re-sign and refer others without being asked. That's what this entire podcast is ultimately about.
And yet: even when your business runs primarily on referrals and renewals, knowing how to hold effective and ethical sales conversations matters. This episode is for coaches and practitioners who want to enroll clients in a way that feels fully aligned: without pressure, manipulation, or anything that compromises your integrity or your clients' autonomy.
In today's episode, I share 7 must-have elements for sales conversations that do their job — supporting the prospects who are truly meant to work with you to step in — while staying completely trauma-informed and ethical throughout.
We cover both the inner and outer pieces, with specific details you can bring into your sales calls right away.

This is our last episode right now in our series on Resistance, and today's episode is maybe the juiciest of all because we're discussing…Resistance Archetypes!
And not just our clients' Resistance Archetypes…but also YOUR Resistance Archetypes.
Because, I want you to be able to support YOURSELF through YOUR toughest obstacles.
So that you're more able to show up cleanly with your clients and without your own fears. So that you're more able to take aligned action on the things that are most important to you – like getting your newsletter out there, or doing outreach to prospects, or starting your meditation practice, or hiring your first team member, or clarifying your marketing message.
Today's episode will help you determine if you tend to step into The Judge Resistance Archetype? Or The Victim? Or The Needy One? Or The Procrastinator? Or The Spiritual One Or The Flake? Or another?
You'll get more clear on the energy pattern you step into when fear or trigger grips you so hard that you step out of your own, natural, empowered energy and into your defense mechanisms.
And, you'll also gain a ton of insight into what happens for your clients when they are in their fear and their defense mechanisms.
This is a mini-masterclass in human behavior!
And.. It's not too late to join us for Navigating Client Resistance where you'll meet the Archetypes in depth and learn exactly how to work with them!
PLEASE SHARE THIS PODCAST WITH YOUR FRIENDS! I will so appreciate it!
PLEASE GIVE US A 5-STAR RATING & REVIEW! Thank you in advance!

The Resistance Archetypes are the predictable energetic patterns that human beings step into when fear or trigger grips them hard enough that they leave their own natural, empowered energy and move into defense mode. And in this episode we go deep into all of them.
This isn't just about your clients. It's about you too.
Because one of the most important things a transformational practitioner can do is understand their own Resistance Archetypes: the specific patterns they personally step into when they're challenged, triggered, or about to do something that stretches them. That self-awareness is what allows you to show up more cleanly for clients, without your own fears running the room. And it's also what supports you in taking aligned action on the things that matter most in your own business and life — getting your newsletter out, doing outreach, clarifying your message, hiring your first team member, starting the practice you've been putting off.
This episode will help you identify whether you tend to step into The Judge, The Victim, The Needy One, The Procrastinator, The Spiritual One, The Flake — or another archetype entirely. And you'll come away with a much richer understanding of what's actually happening inside your clients when they're in fear and their defense mechanisms are running the show.
This is a mini-masterclass in human behavior, and one of the most practically useful episodes in this series.

How to prepare for coaching sessions is one of the questions I get asked most often by students in the Sacred Depths Transformational Practitioner Training — because the way I prepare is probably not what you'd expect. Spoiler: it doesn't involve hours of reviewing notes.
In this episode, I share the simple protocol that sets me up to step into every client and group session powerfully, with full presence and exactly what my clients need. And the heart of it is this: preparation for coaching sessions isn't primarily a logistical act; it's an energetic one.
We go deep into what Aligned and Powerful Energetics actually are, why they matter more than any technique in your toolbox, and how your beliefs, feelings, and inner state in the moments before a session shape everything that happens inside it.
I also share the personal meditation I say out loud before every single session — the one that helps me drop out of performance mode and into genuine presence — along with a few practical tools that support the whole thing.
Whether you're newer to this work or have been coaching for years, this episode will shift how you think about what it means to truly prepare.

How to prepare for coaching sessions is a question I get asked constantly by students in the Sacred Depths Transformational Practitioner Training: "Joanna — you always show up so prepared and manage so much in a session. How do you do it?"
I love this question, because how you prepare for client and group sessions is key to that session being successful, productive, and transformational. And the way I actually prepare is probably not what you'd expect.
Spoiler alert: it's not spending hours reviewing session notes.
I have a simple protocol that sets me up to step into client and group sessions powerfully, with exactly what I need to empower my clients…and I share all of it in this episode.

The Victim Resistance Archetype is one of the most important (and most misunderstood) patterns a coach or transformational practitioner will encounter in client work. In this episode, we go deep into what it actually is, why it shows up, and what to do when your client steps into it.
You've probably seen it: a client who, mid-session, seems to suddenly transform into someone else entirely. The capable, resourceful person you know them to be appears to vanish, replaced by someone who feels completely helpless, oppressed by their situation or the people around them, and unable to take action, think hopefully, or move forward in any way.
That's the Victim Archetype at work. And understanding it — really understanding it, at the level of what's actually happening inside your client when this occurs — changes everything about how effectively you can support them through it.
This is also a personal one. I share my own story of slipping into the Victim Archetype while working with a business coach, and how it blindsided her completely. Because here's the truth: this archetype doesn't just live in our clients. It lives in all of us. We're all messy humans, and knowing this work from the inside out is part of what makes you so much more equipped to hold it with clients.

Client resistance shows up in more ways than most practitioners realize: the client who's consistently late, who cancels last minute, or who suddenly has a bad attitude about what you're discussing in session, or even gets upset with you.
If you're not well-equipped to recognize and navigate client resistance, it can become genuinely difficult for you as the coach or practitioner. Most practitioners today don't know how to handle resistance because they don't fully understand what's driving it. And without understanding a client's motivation behind resistance — or knowing how to masterfully move clients through it — you can end up feeling drained, frustrated, and questioning your own confidence and abilities, while your client becomes frustrated, angry, or loses hope in the work.
Not knowing how to navigate client resistance is also a major factor in low retention rates, low referral rates, clients wanting to quit, or coaches narrowing their definition of an "ideal client" so tightly that they cut out a large percentage of viable prospects.
Understanding client resistance is honestly one of the most important topics any transformational practitioner needs to master.

Every coach and transformational practitioner faces this moment eventually: your client brings something into a session that is completely outside your area of expertise — a parenting situation, a question about running Facebook ads, a family crisis, a health decision — and you feel that familiar inner lurch of "I don't know enough about this to help."
This episode is for that moment.
The truth is, over decades of supporting clients with the inner and outer work of growing their businesses and lives, my clients have brought forward pretty much every situation under the sun: parenting, caring for aging parents, wanting to leave marriages, illness, writing a one-woman show, and so much more. There is no way I could ever be an expert in all of it. And I don't try to be. And yet I've been able to support my clients through every single one of these situations.
How? That's exactly what we explore today. You'll walk away with specific, actionable ideas for what to do the next time a client takes your session somewhere you didn't expect.
