Top infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci has clarified to the US Senate at a closed-door hearing that the black, white and yellow fungus being found in India is not a race issue and has to be treated differently due to the different pathological implications. He also did not rule out the fact that these post COVID complications could arise in the US as well and that they needed to be prepared against it.
Mucormycosis or Black Fungus is a very rare infection. It is caused by exposure to mucor mould which is commonly found in soil, plants, manure, and decaying fruits and vegetables. It affects the sinuses, the brain and the lungs and can be life-threatening in diabetic or severely immunocompromised individuals, such as cancer patients or people with HIV/AIDS.
White Fungus infection is caused due to fungi moulds present in the environment. The disease isn’t contagious, but a person is said to be vulnerable to the infection since these moulds can be easily inhaled by a patient. After inhalation, the moulds can spread to vital organs and cause complications thereafter. White Fungus infection affects the lungs as well as other parts of the body including nails, skin, stomach, kidney, brain, private parts and the mouth. White fungus is curable with commonly available medicines and does not need expensive injections unlike in the case of mucormycosis, nor is it as deadly
The newly discovered Yellow Fungus infection, much like other fungal infection spreads via contaminated environments, or when a suspected patient inhales moulds (mycometes) which grow in the environment.
What makes this infection different from white and black fungus infection is the manner of its spread. While black fungus starts with distinct facial disfiguration, the yellow fungus infection starts to cause symptoms by launching an attack on the body’s internal organs and disturbing vital bodily processes.
It is important to note that none of these infections is contagious and the best way to prevent getting infected is to maintain hygiene, cleanliness and basic sanitization protocol.

With the euphoria of the elections dying down and both sides finally taking a break from the constant verbal war of words of social media, the overall confusion of the population in the Indian states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu have now come to the fore.

Tata Motors has made a startling announcement to help in India’s fight against the COVID19 virus by offering to convert all Tata Nanos newer than 2009 into a portable ICU bed with Oxygen and other medical equipment. This modification is planned to be undertaken at the Sanand plant which currently builds the Tata Tigor and Tiago.
The Tata Nano was a much talked about car at launch with its purchase price of INR 1,00,000 making it one of the cheapest cars in the world. The car ran into issues early in its lifetime when the factory had to be shifted from Singur in West Bengal to the current location in Gujrat. This delayed the launch and hurt its prospects for advance bookings.
This was followed by a negative perception among the Indian public that the car is unsafe due to its low cost and innovative cost-cutting tactics. This was not helped by multiple reports of the car catching fire across the country. It also became the symbol of cheapness on the Indian roads for no fault of its own. The car was a pretty decent one at that price and the fact is that even the first car, Ford Model T, was far more expensive than a Nano.
The Nano production was officially stopped in August 2018 after repeated poor sales and the company producing only 1 car in June 2018.
